this lastest flash was not advertised to correct anything that I am aware of. There was probably some kind of update but since it was not to correct a drivability concern it has not been advertised.

So bottom line until we know that the correction was or have an issue then I think I would take a watch and see approach.

If the truck runs good and you have no issues then don't try to fix what isn't broke.

senix: Where do they advertise the updates? My truck was updated last October and the dealer told me that he couldn’t tell me what version the update was, all he could say is that because I complained about how the last update (May) was acting, they hooked up the laptop and it will update the truck and they don’t know what the update does!! The last update (for what I noticed) increased my MPG, changed the shifting patterns, decreased the regens intervals and the regen message on the display. I agree with you, if it running good then don’t try to fix it, the update I got in May was nothing but crap and I wish I didn’t have it done, the update in October changed some things that drove me nuts since May, but is not prefect and I guess I’m asking for too much.

Reason I’m asking is my truck is going in on Friday to have a new version EGR valve and housing (Been waiting since Dec 30), also to install the external temperature sensor relocate kit because I have my grille cover on. As far as the new update, I don’t know if I should mention it, so they don’t do it or do it? I’m tired of being a Ford Test Pilot.

Thanks in advance…MPD56

Took mine in Monday for the same EGR related codes... they reflashed it, cleared the codes, and said "now operating within accepted parameters".

MPG's according to the lie-o-meter are up a little, have not hand calc'ed yet. Boost is WAY down from before, and the regen message is gone. It seems to have lost some pep as well, but seat-o-the-pants is not always the most reliable. Anyone else with similar thoughts after the last reflash?

EKUgrad: Keep us posted on the new re-flash and the EGR. Did they tell what version it was or date that the re-flash came out? Also I’d be interested if you have any more EGR problems

Thanks in advance.

They did not say and I do not believe that it was mentioned on the paper I received from the dealer, but I'll double check. It was reflashed back in the Fall, though, so I would assume that this one is newer than that. At that time it was going into regen every 80-100 miles - unloaded, all highway at 70+mph, so I took it in and they updated it.

I'll let you know. I have had this truck back into the shop for one thing or another more than all of my previous vehicles combined. Nothing major, no strandings, but tons of little stuff -- mostly related to the 6.4.

Ya, the lastest re-flash is probably just to update the system and I did some research on it. I can't find out online what this flash is for, but I guess it can't really hurt.

EKUgrad, those little things can get annoying for sure. Luckily the truck hasn't left you stranded and hopefully it never will, but constantly going to the dealer for warranty work is never fun, but at least you don't have to pay for it.

Absolutely not true, nothing is free. We pay for every last dollar of warranty repairs -- up front, I might add -- in the form of the ridiculously high price on these rigs.

This flash does seemingly improve fuel economy, however. I drive a 400 mile round trip circuit twice a week; after this flash was the very first time that I was able to make one leg of the trip in under 1/2 tank.

my ECU was updated on 1/23/2010 and i notice the same results as you EKUgrad. Increased mileage, less boost and less pep.... Mine actually went in to get itself a new radiator and thermostat. Spartan 275 is my next purchase for this beast!!
