Mileage with 4.10's

I'm sure everyone gets tired of the mileage questions but I have searched this and haven't found the specifics that I am looking for. I just bought the truck in my sig and was wondering if anyone that has something like mine could tell me their mileage numbers. Thanks

I have essentially the same truck, but without any tuners (yet).

When I first got it it (with 45 mi) it was running around 12 MPG unloaded.

From around 750mi - 4500 mi I did a long trip carrying a 2,000# camper and towing an ~8,000# trailer and it got about 10.5 MPG.

Approaching 11k on it now the unloaded, driven with a moderately light foot MPG is creeping towards 14 MPG.

Oil analysis showed fairly high wear metals and ~2% fuel dilution on the first change. The second change showed wear metals dropped off substantially and <2% fuel dilution. It seems to be breaking in nicely.

I'm glad your fuel dilution numbers are that good. Mine were 6.5% at 8K and 3.5% at 16K. I'll have to see what's up at 24.

First fill up hand calculated was 11.10 GPM empty. Not too bad. I am hoping to get 14-15out of it. If not oh well I knew what I was getting into. I just like the challenge. I plan on removing that "thing" later on but am going to wait a while and make sure I don't have any problems. I never had one problem out of my 08 but it only had 18k miles on it when I traded it in. I was also only getting 11-12 mpg with it with 3.73, a 6" lift and 37's. So 11-12 on this dually wont hurt my feelings too bad.

mine is a job 1 08 2wd dually with 4.10 (36K).

normal unloaded mpg: 14-15mpg

towing 20-25k lbs gcw 70-75mph: 8-9mpg

surprisingly enough my loaded 6.4L fuel mileage is usually within 1mpg of my 6.0L and 7.3L in similar towing conditions. my 6.4 has sooty black tail pipes and doesnt regen nearly as much as everybody elses trucks do. Ford doesn't care about the black tail pipes (two different dealers). On a recent 1,200 miles trip towing 25k lbs, the truck only went thru 2 complete regens.

unloaded my 6.0 and 7.3 get about 16-18 with a 3.73 rear end.
