Bill, did you finally get airbags added? And how's the TrailAir suspension on the fiver working for you? David

Dave, I am still trying to decide between airbags, supersprings or maxloaders... decisions, decisions.. got to do something to eliminate the squat... TrailAir suspension is great on the fiver; sure takes a lot of the pounding off the fiver and the truck..

What are the differences between those two trucks? Same rear-end size?

did one have 18" rims and the other 20" rims?

That is a drastic difference. I can get around 19-20 out of mine on the highway, but I'm talking about 55-65 using cruise, and slowing it down to 55 or so going up hills and accelerating back to 65 going down hills. Never boosting over 10 psi is key (for me at least). I have 3.73s and 18's with the crappy stock Continentals at 75 PSI.

There ya go, you have a 6.0, and my guess a F-250? Well the 6.4 and new emmissions crap (DPF) are killin the fuel mileage, let alone an 8800 lb. F-450 makes a difference, not one I like all to well. The worst mpg with my '97 was 11, that was with 22,000 behind it. I barely get 11 with the '09 empty.

Thank goodness I put in the Titan 67 gallon take before we left for AZ., all we would be doing is stopping for fuel, and you get out on I-10 it can be a stretch between fuel stations. Great investment so far, nice quality parts pretty easy to install, great customer service, you know the things we used to see in American companies (harder to find everyday).

It's the emissions stuff. I'd like to say the Dodge Cummins is a lot better, but it's not. My '07 is down to 9 MPG towing, and about 14 MPG empty mixed hwy/town.

By comparison the old 12 valve Cummins could see above 21 MPG on the highway. Of course, the 7.3 got good fuel economy too.

I'm not sure how burning so much more fuel reduces emissions, but that's the way it is.

I think people are more willing to blame new emissions controls and thinking less of the other big factor, USLD.

You could take a 5.9 24v Cummins and eek out around 20 mpg on regular diesel fuel. Take the same truck and put in a tank of USLD and see the mileage drop. Happened to ours when the big switch to USLD was made back around '06-'07.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't know what the deal is with the DPF and regen process on some of your trucks, but mine has never lost a huge amount of mileage on a regen. The last regen it had, I flogged the piss out of it. WOT on and off for a good 20-30 mins. and I lost, AT THE MOST, .5 mpg. I watched that gauge the entire time.

What did they do to the 10's that makes such a difference in mileage do you think?

My truck is getting between 10 and 11 no matter how I drive it. The truck is a completely stock f350 king ranch with the 20in wheels. After I got PCM reprogrammed I was getting 8 mpg. When I pull my 3 horse GN trailer it only fluctuates by about 1 to 1.5 mpg. And it has 46k on it!!

I have a 09 350 CC DRW 3.73's got 11 mpg the first tank second 12.5 third 13.5 hand calculated now 14.5+ according to the computer which was in line with previous hand calc's. If I continue like this I'll be happy after reading the dismal mpg's others are getting.

2009 DRW 4x4 4.10 gears

I just bought an 09 loaded CC DRW with 4.10 gears. I'm averaging 10.5mpg right now. My lie-o-meter is within a tenth of my hand calculated mpg. Sure hope it gets better soon. Will consider adding a Diesel additive to see if any difference. Have the truck up in Detroit now, working, so I'm sure the cold weather isn't helping. Only have had one regen so far, at 620 miles on the clock. Lasted about 12-15 miles. Love the truck tho. Can't wait to hook up the 5'er and see how she pulls.

Those 4.10 are gonna kick ur butt on mileage. I got rid of my 08 and bought a '10 with 3.55. Averaging 15 now. Long trips non-towing at 67 mph is 19
