A good friends dads just had work done on his Ferd (a dealership) and was told by a Tech that Ferd was abandoning the 6.4 for the 08's and that Navistar already had a efficent engine to the tune of a revamped 7.3 with a new injection system and I thought he said twin turbos????? has anyone heard of this or is it plain old Bulls**t.

You know I almost wonder if Ford starts a bunch of rumors just so that people won't know what they are doing. You know say one thing, then another thing, then something else and then when they release th eproduct it turns out to be something totally different. I stopped guessing a while ago and am just gonna wait until later this month when the they unvail the new motor and truck.
I call it BS, but I did run across my new Farm Industry News magazine that I just recieved in the mail Monday 9-18-06, and read about the new super duty pickups F450-F550 that are being beefed up by an aftermarket company (Accubuilt) in Lima OH. The website is www.accubuilttrucks.com. They mention in 2007, these trucks will be offered with either the 6.0 and or 7.4 liter diesel. Now I already wrote to them saying this might possibly be a mistake and I am still waiting to hear a response. I wrote (email that is) on Tuesday, and still waiting. I have an eight hundred # (1-888 324-7895) for accubuilt. I haven't called upon it yet. That is my next option.

First you need to tell your friends dad to find another dealer, its morons like this that don't deserve to have a job, other than making fries at the local Mcdonald's.
I get really sick and tired of tech's that know nothing, and then run there mouths like this idiot did.
The 6.4 is going in the 08's,period.
If there is another motor, its for international fleet of trucks, not the super duty.

Naw..... Actually I think the new engine will be a 7.6 Liter....in-line 6....and IHC's version will be called the DT-466E. Heaven Help D-C and GM if Ford ever did decide to do something like that.....

I agree that I think it is total BS, I talked to a guy I know today who is a diesel tech at a ford dealership. he said that he has heard of no such thing nor has there been any talk on some site or tech line ( or whatever he called it) he did say the guys over at the training facility would know if anyone and he was going to call someone he knows. He also add that he felt this to be BS also.
