I heard they might change it all over to a clean, reliable nuclear powered turbine engine. Early spec's are showing around 8900 ft. pounds of thrust which should really improve towing and the 0-60 speeds. The only problem is that the vehicle will weight in at about 43000 pounds due to the needed lead shielding required by the Federal Atomic Energy Commission. They are now trying to work out how to deal with the thrust wake and it's potential effect on something being towed or other vehicles and pedestrians. There will be no need for "chipping" this new engine since it will be electronically speed limited to 547 miles per hour. My sources tell me that it will be tested soon at the secret Ford testing ground located on Venus. As soon as that is completed, it should be ready for the US market late 2008 and priced at around 9 million dollars.
Apparently you guys think I am kidding. HERE is a picture of it during testing. Also on the upside, Ford has apparently heard the complaints about the new body style and have gone back to more conservative Ford styling with this new vehicle. You can see the mountainous Venus terrain in the background.
this will hurt the domestic diesel truck market badly

If it as dependable as Toyota usually is and is priced right, it could be the knock out blow for Ford. If they lose even a small market share of their F-series sales to the big T, it will be devastating financially and don't for one minute think that is not the reason Toyota is doing it. They are going after the F series directly by name in their advertisements already. You've seen it where the Toyota and the Ford are on the launch ramp pulling boats out. Toyota has that market in a big, big bullseye. If the sales of the new Toyota HD and the proposed diesel are even bigger, I don't see what Ford can do to survive in their current business model. They may go private and just sell a few models and try to hang on to as much of the truck and fleet sales they can. I don't think I am overplaying the potential damaging effect on Ford of a successful Toyota HD truck program.

Toyota and Nissan just announced delays in the launch of their HD pickups until at least 2009/2010.

That's good for Ford, got a link to the announcement?
