New truck

First of all this is not my first post and my name is Mike not Betsy.
I am on a different computer and could not remember my login name or password. So I joined again, what a pain. Every display name I could think of was used, so whoever is using my dogs name Zeus Willmont, stop,he is getting upset. The sad part about this, is it true.

On Tuesday I ordererd my new 250 KR. from what I am reading I have about 8 weeks to wait. This will be my third F250. A 2002 and my current 06. I test drove a 2008 Wow what a difference. The only thing I dont like is the front end, I wish they kept the 2002 style.

Now to be fair to GM I did look out the GMC and Chevy. Their front end have so much bling that they look worse than the Ford. Infact Ford, Dodge, GMC and Chevy all have ugly front ends in 2008. However what I really hate about GMC trucks is the stupid donuts they put on them. I know you can replace them, but after $50k+ I should not have too. No wonder the Chevy people talk about such great mpg. With a sensible wheel and tire combination I expect their mpg is no different to ours.

My 2002 7.3 100000 miles when traded never modded except 285 BFG AT's
never had a problem.

My 2006 no mods 24000 miles no problems.

Re: New truck

I would sure like to read some more opinions from people who own 08's and are having no problems. As expected a lot of threads are from people with problems. As usefull as these are, I would like to hear some good stories so I can lose the guilt of trading in a 14 month truck.

Re: New truck

i've had my 450 king ranch for 3 months now, have roughly 5000 miles on it and love it. Only had a few small problems, satellite radio, rear trailer lights and the exhaust recall...

Re: New truck

BW, We've owned the F450 for 2 mos now, just over 5000 mi. Towed our 5er for 650 of those miles. Two day trip from AL border in WGA to Central VA.

One issue is the lights in the dually wheel wells have come loose. The clips aren't holding. DH had them fix one last week during his first oil change. Then another came loose. So he stopped in at the Ford dealer and had them reorder all 4 red/amber lights.

The only other real issue is the Navigation screen gets so many fingerprints since it's a touch screen. It's tough to keep clean!

Re: New truck

08 250 6.4L CC SB for 6 weeks 3500miles. No problems with the vehicle, glad I went for it. Pulls so much better than my 00 7.3 or my 03 Duramax. Interior is quiet and comfortable. Mileage gain of about 1.3mpg after 2000miles. What can I say so far I love it. Congratulations on taking the plunge.

If you search, you will find quite a few posts about happy owners. Even with my latest issue, I am still a very happy owner. Well, I am happy with the truck, the dealership could use a smack down. LOL! My 450 tows like a dream and I love the interior.

Hmm, I had the red one on the driver side pop out. I thought it was a fluke. I will have to keep an eye on them. I do plan to swap them to the Recon Accessory's ones though so maybe that will solve it.

And I hear ya about the Nav screen. The finger prints drive me crazy. I am so anal about the truck being clean that I keep a swiffer in the center console.

Re: New truck

A swiffer? Sounds like "Girlie Man" talk to me. What you really meant to say was you kept a rag stuffed under the seat to wipe the greasy french fry prints off of the screen. Swiffers are for girlie Chevy trucks, not he-man F-450's! Glad to hear you got the truck back on the road. Love to see that blown pipe, you know I will be crawling under our truck when it arrives and take a look at it.

Re: New truck

We bought one of those screen covers off Ebay. Works pretty good. I stopped at an Arbys with my daughter yesterday and we were in the parking lot eating a burger when a couple pulled up next to us in a 450. Man that's an awesome truck.

Hmmmm. Betsy? Did you try Chickboy, or Girlieguy?

Love my 08 with almost 5000 miles. Tows really well, though I don't tow more than 6000 right now so it's overkill for me. Most people have had minor, unrelated issues. So no real common threads as of yet.
My last truck (Titan) was squeaking and rattling in the first 1200 miles. Not this truck. Fit and finish is excellent. Diesel is quiet, powerful (to me) and fuel economy is no surprise. Right what I expected.
I have had several women inquire about the truck as well as a bunch of guys. Funny, most common comments are about the tailgate step.

Enjoy your truck,

Sincerely, Zeus

Re: New truck

Does anybody know what a 2008 F-250 6.4 Diesel 4X4 King Ranch gets on driving mileage in the city and highway? Also any problems with the motor? I've heard good and bad things about this new motor.

I'm trying to decide between a GMC 2500 Duramax with 6 speed transmission 4X4 fully loaded or the 2008 6.4 Diesel 4X4 F-250 King Ranch.

Can you guys help me with this decision. Thanks
