Hi guys
Well i have an 09 f-350 6.4 all bullet proofed with 83k on it and the other night on the way into work i came to a stop light. Went to drive away and started hearing a sound that was similar to banging a pot with a wood spoon. Very loud. Was checking if anything went loose but nothing.
Went to pull over onto a side street, truck had no power and then died as i rolled onto the street. Truck will still crank hard but does not start. Had some heavy smoke when i attempted to pull it on next street but nothing extreme.
Truck is now sitting at the dealership waiting for monday to come so the diesel tech can check it out.
(Never had any type of sign of problem until this happened)
Anyone have this happen to them before?
Or know what it could have been?
Had an '09 and a '10--at 207k on the '09, loud noise, lots of smoke. Turned out, no compression on #8. Sold truck, bought identical '10. At 107k, loud noise, lots of smoke. Lost compression on #7. Either hole in piston or rings gone as all air pressure going into crankcase. Upper end was great, no broken rockers or bent pushrods. New short block, as too long and more $$ to rebuild. $22k.
Wish you luck.
Well yea that is very true but luckily there is only one diesel tech who is the guy i took care of every time he did work for me and he is the guy who put all parts on for me. Have him and the service advisors personal #'s so they take care of me when i come in and have done warranty work for me with this done anyway.
Unfortunately i wont be finding out what story is with truck for a little so stuck in a jeep patriot lol
Ok so just spoke with the mechanic apparently one of the glow plugs bent and snapped part of it into the cylinder. he hasn't taken the whole engine apart yet to see what else he damaged but i'll be getting a new motor out of it but the only problem is now I need to find an EGR system to place in the pictures or if an inspector comes for him to see that it is there before everything would be approved
Well the engine repair has finally been approved and ford is giving me a brand new engine under warranty heads and all.
Only one issue was they only approved replacing one injector under warranty
(the cylinder that blew up) so im having them put the other 7 new ones in. Costing a few $ but they are getting me them for cost and no labor charge. Hopefully in a few weeks ill finally have my truck back.
For last few months ive been driving a 2017 Lincoln MKZ the dealer gave me so no complaints on my end.
Ill post again with pics of new engine being put in when i can
