Oil dilution by fuel, how it works

Oil dilution by fuel

My last oil change (at 5000 miles) produced 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil more than the 15 quart engine capacity. Having read about this phenomenon on this forum I thought this may be severe. My VIN number is not included in the recent recall covering this problem. It is a Job 1 truck.

I took my F450 to my dealer and the answer was basically, “All 6.4 engines do this”. OK, why? They blame the regen system for the fuel in the oil, but no one can explain exactly how it happens. Does anyone on the form have an examination?

After the last re-flash the truck goes into regen about every 50 to 70 miles instead of the 500 miles before the re-flash. That seems excessive. I know this is along the same lines as the thread on Blackstone reports.

It's injected on the exhast stroke in the engine. That's why some of it gets into the engine. A little bit of leakage past the rings.

Thanks jcason. Another totally bad "green" idea that we did not need.
