Oil dripping from the back of the motor

Hey guys this morning I noticed a 1 inch oil drop on my driveway under my truck. Crawled under there and see it is leaking right where the tranny meets the block. The gasket seems to not be holding. It is originating from the underside of what appears to be the bellhousing. The truck is an auto and has never had a problem. Has anybody here had this issue and am I looking at a cab off fix?

Thanks.

Just might be.

It just might come to that. The first 08(dealer bought it back) I had was leaking from the back of the engine on top. They had to take the cab off to get to it and found a crimped gasket. Depending on where the leak is really coming from it might just happen. Best of luck to you!

I've been dealing with a similar oil leak in my '06 three times. This last time they took the engine out without taking the cab off, and re-sealed the bedplate. All was good for a couple of weeks until the tranny cooler lines started leaking quite a bit of fluid. It's back in the shop for that, and delayed any vacation plans I had. Now I have to go through the whole testing process again, since I don't want to break down while towing my 5th wheel. It seems they have the oil leak fixed after three tries. This third time I took it to a different dealer.

Red oil or black?

I had a red transmission oil leak between two sections of the transmission housing (just above the frame cross member) on my 08 at about 4k miles. They had to drop the trans, but it only took 2 days and all seems OK now.

They will more than likely tell you that the AC is acting normally. Mine does the same thing and since it does not change in temp too much, nothing can be done. I was told the cab is too big. Mini-vans have a smaller ac unit and have twice the cabin space and keep it cool!

Good luck on your engine leak and headlight issue.

Well, just as I expected. "No leak found", so they say. He said they did see some grime where I saw the leak and they cleaned it off drove it around and found nothing. So I guess the drops in my driveway must be my imagination. Anyways, I went under the truck to point out what I saw. They did clean it off but I also noticed they grinded off the pieces of gasket that were sticking out of the flange face. I asked them what happened to the gasket and why it looks grinded. The regional reps response was "It's now clean, that's why you didn't see it before"???? They also added a dye in the oil, so when it leaks again they will take a black light to find the source. My guess is they put a sealant on the flange where it was leaking, tightened the bolts, then grinded it clean as to not see the sealant. I'm sure it will oooze once Itake it to work and I will definitely take it right back before any grime builds up.
The other issures weren't exactly resolved either.
They did replace the leaking battery.
I wasn't affected by the seat recall.
The fuel tank recall was performed.
No problem with the a/c (of course).
Headlights weren't replaced, he is going to take pictures and send them in?? I thought there was a TSB for this?

I pick her up later today. Lets see how fast I can get it to leak. I'm guessing on my way home from Costco after I pick it up from the dealer.

as for the ac, part of this problem isnt something than can be fixed. you have approx 10,000 different finned heat exchangers on the front of your truck(ac/ic/rad/oil cooler...) the ac condensor is inbetween the ic and rad, so in slower traffic, or idling it isnt getting any airflow and will cause the ac's time to rise. on a normal car, the ac condensor is in front of the rad, so this isnt an issue.
