Dusten,
What was the outcome of your repair? how long did it take? The pics you posted are exactly what i'm seeing under my truck.

Mine was leaking from there. I m looking at the paper work now for mine. The Paperwork says "dye test found oil leaking from low pressure oil pump cover. No oil leaking from crank seal. emailed hotline no reports of oil leaks. removed low pressure oil pump cover inspected cover for damage and inspected gasket. Bob b. called said to replace low pressure oil pump cover as an assembly. replaced low pressure oil pump cover. installed new front crank seal installed new crank pulley bolts. cleaned engine road test retested no leaks found."
Parts
"6007d engine oil leaks - diagnosis - L"
"246 war"
"3 *r3708* diesel oil"
"4 *w300024* bolt"
"1 8c3z*6600*a pump asy - oil"
"1 8c3z*6700*a seal asy - Crankshaft oil - fr"
"6020a gasket or cylinder front cover - remove and install or replace (6019/6020) - l"
as per the invoice
I hope some of these helps in anyway.
I took the truck in on AUG 08 07 and had it back on AUG 15 07.
There was also much conversing between the dealership doing the repairs and IH. IH said to replace all those parts NOT FORD. The service manager told me I had the first truck with this problem and IH got the part back for R & D.

mine was a high pressure relief valve. it took them about 2-3 hours to fix it.

I have about 700 miles on my 08 F250 4x4 and I've been smelling a burning tranny fluid like odor ever since day one. Dealer looked at it prior to delivery and said no problems. I crawled under yesterday and I see a few drops of engine oil just below the crank shaft damper. It ran off onto the steering links and some followed the pan and dripped off the pan drain plug. This isn't alot of oil, maybe a teaspoon full, since I wiped it all off with one paper towel. I'm going to dirve it awhile to wee what else shakes out before I take it in for a service call.
Why is it that Ford seems to think grease fittings are a bad thing? I can only find two fittings and they are on the outer half shaft at each wheel. My old F350 had zerks on all the tire rods and steering drag link.
Also, why doesn't Ford paint the drive shaft? My old 87 F350 with a quarter of a million miles on it has a painted shaft that looks newer than the one on my 08!
