OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

Just got an 08 f450 4x4 king ranch. i know many of you are going, WHAT?????
anyway, i go tthis one. so glad i did not buy before. i found a delaer that had 12, and they have had them for 3 months. anyway, tried to buy the same truck i got today a month ago, and the deal was sucky (no that was not the deal i walked away from). i bought this one because i stole it. sticker was 60760. i gave them 4k, plus the 4k rebate and my truck that i owed 39380 on, and got this for 50k out the door. i worked it out the best i could, and they sold me this truck for invoice, and still gave me like 37ish for my truck. i am sure many of you are just rolling your eyes, but its true. the deal was too good not to take it.

now for my impressions on the truck. yes I like the truck, however, its has "looseness" to suspension when hitting freeway bridge bumps. meaning it sorts vibrates/jumps a little. the mileage sucks badly. drove it home all highway, maybe 50 miles or so, and the lie o meter is at 10 even!! i was going 70 up to 80, but mostly to the lower end. the interior of this truck is not as good as the old one. it is nicer to the eyes but its not as functional. the dash cup holder is not only too low but its in the way of the cubby hole in the front of the centerconsole. the console its self is a tad too low for me to use as an armrest without really slouching over. bbut it does have good storeage inside. the door panels i like. nicer set up there and they look stronger (the pockets that is, i have seen the old ones separate). the quiet is very good. the turning radius is very good. the cigarette lighter is too high for my taste as i use it as a power point to charge my phone. it is in very nice place if it were to be used for a smoker, very convienent. the brake box is easy to get to, but how often do you really have to mess with it? me not too often, so i think they should have put it somewhere else, and maybe allowed for a better designed cup holder. of course the driver's glove box is gone, i hate that part alot. infact i forgot to get the stuff from that in my old truck so i have to go back. the painted bumpers are ugly and not durable to road rocks and road sand at 70 plus. these are already chipped from transport, looks like guy hit it with a chain. i will be posting mileage reports and giving my first tow report after labor day. the truck has 4.30 for those wondering about the mileage. bought from wayne akers in lake worth fl, for those non-believers that think i just come on here to agravate people. I am a real ford buyer and consumer, with real input and hands on experience and my opinions come from that experience.
this truck is not the truck of all trucks, it is nice but ford certainly could have done a better job.
anyone know where i can get a wood steering wheel?? send me a PM.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

Do you really like it? It sounds like you loathe your new truck.

10mpg is great for 4.30 rears at 70-80mph. Thats pretty high revs there. When my Dodge Cummins w/4.10's was new, I'd get 14-15 at 71mph. Once it broke-in (after 75,000 miles) it got 18-19 at the same speed.

For the 6.4 I think 10 is very fair when running it hard like 75mph w/4.30. Thats what, 2600 rpm? And, I think I would be babying it right now.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

i do like the truck. i would not have bought it if i didn't like it. i pull a big 41ft 5th wheel so i could use the extra truck so to speak, but truthfully do not think i needed it. the mileage sucks, but i live only like 2.7 or so to my job, and i also do not pay for my fuel in town, they do, so those parts of the bad or dislikes are covered. i just wanted a new one, and the rebates were 4k so i figured i would try it. had a deal on one with much less equipment for 52k after all was said and done. called this dealer, they just said to me what is it going to take? so i told them and got this truck for less than a lesser one. i have bought 14 new trucks before and this one is by far the best deal i have ever gotten. so i did it. i do like the truck, just think in some areas they could have done better thats all. but if i can set my cruise at 72-73 ish with my big trailer, and not have any downshifting and gear hunting and all that crap, and now she has her own temp for the a/c, i am good. i also for got to add another good point, on the way home, you know how when you have cruise on and traffic changes and you have tap brake to slow down just a bit and the old trucks would "let go of the gear"?? well this one, did not, it stayed in gear, no reacceleration with more than needed rpms waiting for the tranny to catch back up. i need a little more time in the saddle to be sure it will still do that, but so far it seemed to do it the way i think it should.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

Let me get this straight. You walked on the lot and bought a $50k truck. Did you drive it for a couple of days? Before I ordered mine I went to our local dealer about 3 times looking and test driving the one on the lot. Then when I was really serious I said give me the keys, the dealer says the tanks full keep it a couple of days. That let my wife and I decide if we (I) wanted that large of a truck. We really loved the truck and are looking forward to our truck coming in. Sorry you are not pleased with yours. Notice I used words like we and ours (she just might read this post one day).

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

actually it was 60k to start. i would have loved the dealer to let me drive it, even for just two hours, but that sort of thing does not happen here in south fl too often. thats really cool for the dealer to do that. i am happy with truck, maybe just not as happy as I would like to be? i would have bought it anyway i think as I am one that gets tired of trucks very soon, i buy too many for what use i get from them. mine only had 16936 when i traded it.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

Do you have sales tax in Fl. It's 6% here. The guys at BlueOvalforums took care of me today and I got my sticker even though the truck hasn't been built yet. You will not believe this, it's exactly the same as yours $60,760. However not a KR, I have to have the center seat/console. I think the more you drive the truck the more you will overlook the little things that annoy you. Hope so anyway.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

I will agree about loosing the drivers glove box. That's where I keep my spare change and keys. My mileage can't be much worse than my truck now. Am I the only F250 only getting 13mpg. and of course worse when towing a 30ft gooseneck with 300 bales of hay. We did load the truck with options, it seemed like I called my dealer back at least 3-times adding stuff. Then when the truck gets here we have to spend more money to put in a hitch, spray in bedliner, those window cover things, hands free phone etc. I will hopefully have this truck a long time. What color did you go with?

Why did you get the 4.30's if you are pulling a 41' 5ver?

Your dealer is either very, very friendly or desperate to sell a truck. As picky as most folks on this board are about their trucks I can't imagine one of them buying a truck that someone has drove around a couple of days putting a hundred miles or so on the odometer. Each time I have bought a new vehicle I am suspicious if it has over 25 miles on it. Reason being, it has either been test drove a bunch and not purchased or the sales team is using it for lunch runs. I test drove a bunch of PU's a while back and most of them had less than 5 miles on them, but a couple had 80-100. I absolutely would NOT purchase a vehicle if I knew someone had driven it around for a couple of days because I would assume, maybe wrongfully, that they used it pretty good to see what it was made of, brought it back and passed or picked out one that that had no useage since they did not like the "color" of the one they drove around.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

6SPD, PLEASE don't use your truck to commute only 2.7 miles to work. That is just not enough time to let it get to operating temperature and keep the batteries charged, let alone let a regen complete.

Re: OK, THIS ONE IS IN THE DRIVEWAY

You can use the tray in the center console as a "driver's glove box". It has more room too. I always lost anything I put in that hole. It went under the seat on acceleration. I personally think the 2008 interior is far superior to 2007 and down. I just took a 700 mile trip and had no complaints about the comfy interior. A wood rimmed wheel would be cool. Let me know if you find a nice one.

first of all, your screen name is my last name, just cought my eye.
second, the trailer weighs 14680 dry and grosses 18k. i pulled this trailer many times with a single rear wheel truck, and had no problems. the dually f350 did ok too. just wanted the 450, with the bigger wheels and better turning radius. it is rated to pull 20k, mine is only 18k. why would i go any higher with the gears???????????
