P2263 - No check ENG light and loss of power ??

Hey guys I have been having an issue with my 2008 3rd job F450. I am running a MiniMax on 160 tune and have deleted the DPF an installed an S&B intake. When pulling long steep grades with my 16,000lb trailer I lose boost and power. All of my temps/egts/boost are normal and then its like one of my turbos kick out and my max boost is 24 psi. Once I pull over read my code P2263 then turn the truck off and then back on is fine until the next long pull. The truck does not do it empty or with my 7000 lb trailer hooked to it. I have had it into PowerShops who have loaded the truck down with their dyno and they were unable to duplicate the situation? I'm lost and you guys are my last chance/hope.

Electronics to the turbos or the turbos themselves is what I suspect.

that code just refers to a system error.

Thanks for the response, ya its a very generic code for the turbos. Either way not good electronics or turbos themselves.

My F450 did the same thing when I was pulling a long hill with a load. Went into limp mode. I stopped and checked turbo hoses, one was leaking a little bit and I tighten it up and put my mini max back to "mild" from "wild" and everything worked fine so far.

I saw a little over 30# of boost just before it went into limp mode the check engine light came on. I didn't see the boost go that high on "mild". So now when I'm towing I leave it on mild. The truck seems to like that better.

30 pounds isn't excessive, I have seen close to 40 before with no I'll effects... Except fuel mileage.

Location of the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor in 2008?

Okay I am going to try the cheap fix first. Cleaning the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor. The EBP sensor seems to be getting the most votes from the power shops and technicians I have been talking to. I forgot to ask on important question though - Where is the located? Any ideas?

I have an '09 and tow 17k--no way can I use even the mild level without elevated EGT. I would have thought that even if it tows ok, the EGT should be over 1400, not 'normal.' or could you define 'normal'? Just my thoughts...

My EGTs are 1350 and below, MiniMax is set to defuel @ 1400, my boost is around 34 psi, coolant temp is around 218 degrees. Transmission temp is around 170. I thought those were within limits maybe not?

Wingnut60 what is your normal temps and speed when pulling heavy loads on long grades?

Actually those are right in the ball park on a heavy load and long grades. I can usually come right in there. Maybe even higher on the coolant temps.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with those numbers. Although, I personally wouldn't live very long at 1350 degrees or above.

Ya 1300 - 1400 sounds crazy hot; I have been told as long as I keep around 1300 I should be good and 1400 briefly. Thanks for chiming in this is all good knowledge for a green weeny like me.

I run as high as 1300* EGT's, 208* trans, 220* water (fan comes on), 232* oil, when pulling hard in 100* heat here in AZ.
