6.4L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 6.4L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 2008 Super-Duty trucks. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 6.4L Power Stroke engine.

Particle Filter codes

I have 2008 PSD has about 16k miles. I have the edge setup and AFE cold air induction. I have noticed that I am getting some codes that are showing up. The truck runs perfect. I noticed these codes which are:

P2002 Particle trap eff. below thershold

P244A DPF Diff. pressure too low

P1000- OBD II Systems Readiness test Not Complete. Require more driving

I have cleared the codes and They will stay gone for awhile then reappear.

Can I keep driving this way or should I be concerned? Thanks JP

Don't be concerned about the P1000.

The other 2 are basically the same. It is saying that the pressure upstream of the DPF is lower than expected. This may mean an exhaust leak or the DPF is cracked. Are your tailpipes black?

These codes are only generated after a regen. That's why they go away for a while.

Tail pipes look clean. I notice that when the P1000 code is on that the truck won't Regen.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one experiencing this. I too have the AFE cold air kit and my light has been coming on since the installation. Does not sound too serious, but I will check my tailpipe color and look for exhaust leaks.

Is it possible to visually inspect the DPF for cracks without tearing into the truck too deeply?
