I lost about 1-2 inches this fall in about 2000 miles. I dont drive the truck much in the winter so it was hard to see if I was loosing any more. The coolant did seem to stay steady the colder it got.

My coolant dropped from the upper cold mark to the venturi tee. When I shut the engine off and unscrewed the degas bottle cap all the fluid came back into the degas bottle to the upper line. I don't know what to make of this.
It was at the cold marks then I towed for 100 miles then it was down. I added fluid and it held for a while then it went down. But I noticed the coolant puked out of the cap as well.
What the heck is going on? Shouldn't the coolant stay in the degas bottle at all times? at or above the cold line when hot and or running?

When I was done driving mine & it cooled down a little I would crack the coolant cap to see if it was holding pressure (it was) but I never had coolant come back into the degas bottle (it just steadilly got lower over time). I dont know whats going on with yours it doesnt seem right.
