IS there any chance you got a copy of the warranty paperwork? If so could you please post the part # replaced? I will get the parts book illustration and post it the illustration for all to see. Curious to see...

[/ QUOTE ]

No, that is something else that tweaked me. They claimed they would mail the paperwork to me, but would not show me the part nor the paperwork. They did leave some stuff in the truck (I think by accident) so I will look at it and let you know.

[ QUOTE ]
I broke down last week and had to call Ford Road Side Service. I had a 7000 pound goosneck on behind my F450. I was told by Ford Road Side Service that they would cover the first $200.00 dollars. It was not an issue as the tow truck driver towed the F450 with the goosneck attached.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think in a tight situation, I would have fought them for the whole bill. (As I will if need be for the rental car and lodging.) It was their fault you were broke down.

They did not seem to want to give me any paperwork either. I wonder what is going on there.

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

Yeah, no paper work, no paper trail........bad business. As the owner of a new truck under factory warranty you deserve to know exactly what failed, why, and what was done to repair it in writing, as for all the rental car, car wash stuff, that is meaningless. I would want in writing what happened, what was replaced and why did it happen, nothing less would satisfy me. Under the factory warranty you are not entitled to a rental vehicle or a car wash, sounds like a dealer trying to make a bad situation as good as they can, but there is no way they should not have had a warranty repair invoice to give to you when you picked up the vehicle, period.......

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

I'm just glad there are enough "I gotta be first on my block with an '08 PSD" guys out there to validate Ford's beta version of the truck before the rest of us buy one.

Waiting for Ford's parts pipeline to fill up could hurt, either.

Isn't there some dealer access site that prints out everything EVER done on warranty? I think any dealer can print out this. I remember they changed the turbo on my 03 when it did not need changing but it did show up on the ford computer print out. The turbo noise was actually a leaking seal on the air box which I found myself and fixed for nothing.

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

Couple of comments.

1) Oil & fuel filter change was $97 at a VA dealer. It shows up on our MyFord website with dealer's name & price. We can print it out at anytime.
2) We have CoachNet for our RV & truck. DoubleTree paid for the first year, so we renewed. Interesting that Ford roadside assistance will be same outfit.
3) I think Enterprise will pick you up anywhere & take you back when you turn in rental. Have always used them to when getting work done on our vehicles.

Gshelton, I hate to ask such a newbie question, but I have never broken down while towing a trailer. If you had broken down towing your 5th wheel, who would you have called to tow that off the highway? Guess this is off topic. Just really curious cause it could happen to me too.

[/ QUOTE ]

I broke down last week and had to call Ford Road Side Service. I had a 7000 pound goosneck on behind my F450. I was told by Ford Road Side Service that they would cover the first $200.00 dollars on the trailer. It was not an issue as the tow truck driver towed the F450 with the goosneck attached. I'm not sure what maximum coverage is on the truck.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hadn't thought of that. Must have been a pretty good tow rig. I think I read that Ford will tow twice a year to the nearest dealership that can service the truck.

Gee, it sounds EXACTLY like what a friend of mine told me about how Wal-Mart does business- and we all know how THAT is going.

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

I you want to blame someone why not International. They designed the eng. & set all the specs. I wish this trk. i'm working on was only a hose going south cause i'm getting tired of putting radiators in it. No one to this day has experience this concern about the radiator tank blowing wide open. Just got through this afternoon getting everything together to test drive in the morning. International engineer is guiding me in certain directions to find out whats doing this. Took me almost 30 minutes to clean all the oil out of the cac hoses & intercooler. Thats whats strange to me & International. Believe you me when i find the culprit i will let everyone know out there so they can repair theirs w/ out all the misery i am going through. I'm just that kinda tech. You scratch my back & i'll scratch yours. LOL. Oh! & that sorry tool Rotunda designed to remove the egrs is a piece of crap!! Took me almost 1 1/2 hrs. to get it right so i could pull it out.

As a quality assurance professional who has attempted to build a career around making sure our customers get what they pay for, it really yanks my chain when I hear about customers being strong armed into giving dealerships positive feedback when in fact they deserve to be kicked square in the arse. I've had them try that with me when I was a GMC owner. The service manager literally cringed and bit his tongue every time I walked into the dealership. Hmmm, must have gotten his arse chewed for taking a week to do a 2 hour job 7 different times. The owner even tried to strong arm me and told me his sad story about how financially difficult life was when customers told the corporation the truth. Horsepooh. That dealership makes MILLIONS every year, and so does the one that worked on your truck. Tell the corporation the story exactly like you told it here, especially the broken promises.

I'll tell you this, I was angry enough about the GMC dealership that 5 years later I bought an Excursion, NOT another Suburban- and swore I'd never buy a GMC product again. And what do you suppose all my complaining did to that stealership? Nothing. They still make millions every year. But I don't own a GMC product.

What's the difference between taking the replacement part off of a new truck after the FIRST missed delivery and the last one when they gave up? Nothing but THEIR sense of urgency. How do you increase their urgency? Immediately start filling out the "I'm pissed off about being jacked around" paperwork right in front of them and tell them you are going to send it straight to Allan Mulally.

WE THE CONSUMERS PAY FOR QUALITY AND SERVICE UP FRONT! When they jerk us around, they are already in violation of any business code of conduct that is reasonable. Always remember that the louts trying to strong arm you work in SALES. Most of those clowns could con the red slippers off the Pope when he has cold feet if it put a dollar in their pockets. Successful sales is simply the art of persuasion and pressure to make you do what THEY want on THEIR schedule. You owe them NOTHING! If everybody would turn the tables on them, we would all get better service and pay less money for our vehicles.

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

I hope all goes well. I had a somewhat similar incident on the way to AZ. Got as far as Mason City, IA when the turbo went south ('99 7.3 F-350DRW SC). We got to the dealership at 1:45 pm. They located a turbo in Omaha, NE.. Somehow they got that turbo there by 9:30 am the NEXT DAY and we were back on the road after only 24 hours total downtime..

To say I was impressed is a vast understatement.. I made sure I sent the owner of the dealership a long letter commending his service dept..

Curious, what is the purpose of your post? The Original poster I think was just trying to relay his experiences with his new truck. He certainly is not anti-Ford or has a chip on his shoulder. Just relaying his experiences with a certain dealership.

Re: The Post I Had Hoped To Never Have To Make

Cmon, I mean really. Everything is outsourced now. The pcm the transmissions part machining the axles the pistons and con rods. So the injectors fail and wipe and engine thats the manufacturer of the injectors fault I guess. Intl and Ford dont make em. The point being if a manufacturer puts a part on a vehicle they are responsible(by law) for the part in question. Can be a little hose in the engine compartment to the cushion in your seat. Ford replaces about 7 seals on my last new ford truck 1 visit at a time. Those seals were made by an outside manufacturer. I still blaimed ford just the same. 30 miles to the dealer. No rental and time off from work. Great service(possibly the best I ever saw in my life) but Im still bitter as heck about losing sleep and missing work because of a crappy, or improperly installed, outsourced part. Those damned hose chewing mice musta ate my seals.

Sorry bout your bad luck dude. I sometimes like to get the hickups out in the first few thousand miles. Usually just a fluke and itll be trouble free for a long time. Plus, getting parts on new vehicles sucks. I had to special order my parts on my last subaru because of a local monopoly, i.e. brakes rotors and other wear items.
