I doubt it the 6.0's did not have the issue.

DieselGem: What does that have to do with anything? The radiator/cooling system is not even close to the same on the 2 trucks. It's just a question nothing more. The EGR cooling system alone is more than most vehicles ever have on them. This cooling system is very complex and I don't think Ford has got all the bugs out yet, I.E. Blown radiators, Egr cooler failures, hydrolock due to the same, allthough not common, they do happen. This new truck is an entity unto itself, the 6.0 and 6.4 are 2 completely different critters when it comes to the cooling system. There's a complete system overview right here on this site and it's awesome. Sorry for the long post, I've just been amazed at the things Ford has cooled with this system.

I have always believed that there is a corolation between the load on the motor/truck, the outside temp, and RPM. When my rad erupted I was really on it pulling up a steep grade in the heat.

I bought the venturi kit and installed it myself. Ford Part# 8C3Z-8B379-B. Retail price was $5.99 from dealer. It takes about 10min to install and instructions with picture comes with parts kit. My truck is a J1 and still has the original rad.

My thought which may not be correct is that is the 6.0 did not have the problem with higher elevations. This truck with a better cooling system would be less likely to have an elevation issue. Neither of my radiators blew in real high elevations. I blew one while towing, one went sitting in the driveway.

Hey guys,
My 2005 Econoline 450 van 6.0 PSD has this problem. It has 12K on the odometer and my radiator is leaking from the passenger side of the bottom tank. My van is out of warranty, so I will be fixing this out of pocket.

I am trying to decide if I should go with a new radiator from Ford, a new aftermarket, or look at having my existing one repaired.

I am also wondering if I need to get the venturi kit and if I can use it on my 2005 6.0 van.
