Recall: Fuel Tank Stopper Bracket

FYI

Recall that was dated June 6, 2008. Today I brought my truck into the dealer to install the fuel tank stopper bracket. With 4500 miles on my truck, I also had them do a oil change and inspection, which cost $120.

This was the first time I have brought it into the dealer, so I had made a list (12 minor problems, mostly man made). I told the service manager that there was a rattle under the left side of the cab, He said that Ford knows of the problem and that he re-torqued bolts and that Ford should have a fix recall out for it soon. Also to my disappointment, he said that there was no update for my computer, I did ask him if he had an update that wasn't classified as a recall and he said that he didn't, but would contact me if an update comes available. I thought that it said on this forum that there was an update, I'll have to look back through a few threads.

Thanks Stymie: I knew I seen this on the forum, I was just talking to the Dealer on the phone before I read this, I guess he is going to get another call. I usually do my home work, shame on me and him. I better look these TSB up!! Thanks for the information.

Upate: Just talk to the dealer and he is going to check those TSB numbers out, he was wondering if they were done in the U.S.A. I asked him why that would make a differents and I would like an answer to that also. Thanks Again.

Last week I had the TSB 08-13-03 done here in Kenora, ON! The SM even gave me a tech printout from Ford to keep in the glove box. He did have to search Ford's data base to find it and they did it under warranty. I copied and printed the TSB posted from another post and gave it to him which helped a lot.

A regen will stop when you put it in park and when in a regen it will also be displayed when System Check is activated. The SM wants me to report back if it improves mileage or whatever but it's too early to tell. There's no loss of performance.

Thanks for the quick reply, been almost 2 hours and no call from the dealer. I'm leaving on a trip for a few days, so I'll update when I return. Thanks again.

MPD56, looks like your truck was built in Feb '08? If so, you have the latest flash. The TSB is only up to trucks built before 1/3/08.

taboky: Your right it was built in February around the 11th day. The Dealer didn't call me back. Do you know where I can lookup the TSB's.

Took my F250 in for the fuel tank stopper bracket yesterday. They ran out of parts so could not do the racall, but they did do the TSB 08-13-02 update. Now I'll wait to see the message about the regeneration process.
