First regen- 6500 miles. Second- 10500. Why are mine so rare? I have seen folks getting them every 300. I have noticed no smoking or power loss during. Anyone got any ideas?

No. This truck never smokes, performs flawlessly. I was thinking maybe my driving habits? I am not one to be miserly with fuel. Although my truck spends most of its time empty or with less than 500 lb on it, I run it hard and often to keep the intake and egr system free of gunk.

Driving habits probably. Mine is used as a daily driver for a 60 mile round trip drive. When I first had the truck, I drove in stop-and-go traffic and sped like a bat outta you-know-where. I got 12 MPG and noticed pretty frequent regens. Now, I changed my work schedule to go in earlier and leave later (compensated OT for exempt workers rocks), go the speed limit and sometimes under.... and get 15-17 MPG... and rarely see regens.
is the truck telling you, or are you just noticing them, because i really doubt they are that far apart

How far and often do you drive on the freeway? You're probally getting them, just don't notice because they are happening on your commute.
I agree here. My truck doesn't say it needs to regen on the factory display under the speedometer very often but I know it is going into regen in between several times because my Bully Dog PMT displays a little "DPF" on the screen when I am commuting and the EGTs get up around 1000 degrees. I think these are called passive regens.

My first was at 1250 miles while on a 700 mile tow. Have not seen one since.

I pay pretty close to how my truck behaves. The first time the display said it was cleaning the filter, it caught me by surprise, and I didn't notice any change in operation. This last time, I really concentrated on any performance changes, and couldn't detect any. I guess it could be happening without my knowledge, I have only seen the display indicate regen twice- and I pay close attention. The truck gets a mix of town and highway driving, more town driving lately.

Mine is a job 1 truck it does not display regen on the dash when it is doing it and for the first three weeks I had the truck it would regen when I would go to park, however the other day I think it did it going down the interstate, it felt funny? Have I missed out on some programming updates? My Ford dealer is not real keen on doing updates, if it runs ok they will not mess with it. I bought the truck with 68000 miles on it.

Had another today at 2460 miles. Looks like I'll get them about every 1200 miles.

I got very tired of not being able to monitor my regen cycles and installed an Edge Evolution on my truck. I found that the common answer for all of my truck performance questions was being in the regen cycle. I get a passive regen every 100 - 600 miles, just like the manual says, which translated into every 3-4 days of driving time in city traffic. Now I'll be able to tell the folks at the dealership if the truck was in a regen cycle or not, when I experience performane abberations. Active regenerations have occured only once since i installed the Edge and it has been almost 2,000 miles now. For those earlier job trucks, you are doing a regen more often than you realize, unless you can actively monitor your EGT's or have another means of notification... Peace of mind was worth the price of the aftermarket equipment!!!
