Replacement of Job1 Tranny filter

Has anyone changed out the exterior transmission filter that is installed on the Job1 trucks equipped with the Torqueshift? I am only at 13,000 miles( and will probably stay there for awhile with diesel at $4.79 a gallon) but want to plan for future filter replacement. It looks like a solid cannister that has to be replaced as a whole without a seperate element. I understand that Job2+ trucks have an interior conventional filter, wonder if I can have my Job1 adapted to this setup. The couplings on my truck's filter look to need to have special tools to seperate the lines from the existing filter much like fuel lines.

I was wondering the same thing about changing to the job2 tranny filter. I am not sure what is involved externally to the trans, but I reviewed the shop manual procedure for trans filter replacement. It seems to indicate the PAN and internal filter are different in the Job2+ setup. Not sure if its worth it or not

Capt,

If it is the same as on the earlier 6.0's. There is a hex nut on the bottom. Use an impact wrench to break it free or you will twist it off the bracket. Just pop it with the air gun to start it then spin it off by hand. The element looks like a roll of toilet paper (small)

Capt,

Go to the link below. From the table of contents select automatic transmission. Then select section 307-01. From that menu, scroll down to general procedures and you will see a topic for the remote filter...

Correct, the TorqShift is technically a 6 speed that only uses 5 during a given shift pattern. 4th gear is only used in extreme cold situations as a replacement for 5th gear...

Normal Shift Pattern - 1,2,3,5,6

Cold Weather Shift Pattern - 1,2,3,4,6
