Seems like it's missing on acceleration

Just had the truck in to replace #1 injector. Before it went in I had a loss of power and a shuddering effect almost like driving down a washboard dirt road. The whole truck shook and I was going nowhere fast. After getting the injector replaced, I pull off of an off ramp the other day and it started to do the same again, put it to the wood and it finally woke up a bit, but left a huge plum of smoke (white or gray in color) behind it.

Just today on a 150-mile trip it started again. I slowed to go through a toll plaza (30 mph) and gave it throttle. It hesitated and smoothed out then about 3 seconds later it just took off. After my whole narrative is this the effects of the regen? Do you loose the power and have the hesitation during that cycle? It almost feels like a gas motor that has water in the fuel. Any help would be appreciated as I am going back to the shop real soon.

Thanks,
Coop

No service engine soon light??

It might just be a regen, but usually you don't notice them.

What was the weather like? There are reports of problems with water ingestion that would cause similar symptoms.

It was bone dry and hot. I am starting to get somewhat frustrated with his truck. I was so pleased when I first bought it and I still love it but it is just unsettleing to spend the money on one of these and have it acting up.

I just broke 5000 miles and I ran the crap out of it yesterday so we will see if it has cleared up. I still suspect something is just not right.

Thanks,
Coop

The same thing here, same symptoms as mine before the engine let go. Mine also fueled it self last going off. I just killed the ignition when it happened, but the ford machanic must have slipped it in N then he said it went past the red line and bang...

FYI, during a regen you'll actually notice what feels like increased acceleration, until boost hits and levels off at 20 psi.

So far it is running OK. I did feel the shuddering and missing feeling the other day, but knock on wood it seems to be running OK. The problem seems to be intermittent and only on a hard acceleration such as passing someone on a two lane county road. Any thoughts...wiring bundle chafing, bad peddle sensor?

I have heard this on another truck something to do with a wire harness under a metal cover by the turbo. I'll try to find the thread. In that case they needed to pull the cab. THe owner stated that the truck would fall on it's face from a dead stop and them bam it took off ..

My 08 with 14K is starting to have the same symptoms. Driving 60mph and hit the gas to pass, the truck shudders, hesitates for a few seconds then takes off leaving a huge trail of brown smoke. Any updates on this?

Not everyone of these issues can be solved with this, but it is the easiest fix, and should solve some problems that may be mis-diagnosed as injector problems.

Have your dealer check the throttle position sensors. The pedal assembly and sensors have been found to be at fault on a few trucks that were originally diagnosed with injector failure.

Dodge has some problems with turbo's getting sooted up from the emissions crap. They've developed a cleaning procedure, but some have had to be replaced. Software issues mostly seem to be resolved with the G-30 recall. Fortunately, very few injector issues or other "hard" failures.

Now, if they'd just build a truck with the Ford Chassis/Interior, the Allison Transmission, and the Cummins 6.7 and you'd have the perfect truck........

Mine does it too.

I am working on 71k and my truck does it more on humid/raining days, but it will hesitate and blow smoke for a few seconds. I can make it stop by letting off the gas, but I think its something with the egr valve. My 6.0 acted like this at times and it was the egr.

Well it is still doing it. It has been acting up since day one and now I have 11000 miles on the clock. Been to the shop 5 times and there are never any codes. As of yesterday they hooked up a data recorder. I have to push a button when ever it acts up and hope it records everything they need. This is getting to be very frustrating. I've almost had two accidents getting on the highway.

Mine was doing this and it is now in for a new EGR valve. May be worth having it looked at.

Will let you know when I get mine back if the new valve solves the issue.

Great, please let me know. I've suspected the EGR as well but with no codes the techs won't change anything. It hasn't done it since they plugged in the data recorder, I wonder if something was changed and I wasn't told.
