Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

I installed my new stereo this week. The only issue I am having is that the rear seat DVD is not functioning now. It turns on for a second and then kicks off.

I really need a wiring schematic for the new trucks.

Does anyone know where I can find one or if the service manuals are available for purchase yet?

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

I see that Helm has not yet released the paper versions for public sale, but on Motorcraft.com it appears they have the wiring diagrams up for subscriptions. It looks to cost 16.95 for one months access to the wiring diagrams.

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

Buddy, thanks for the link. I do not see the 08s however. (I probably am missing something.) I looked in the link of what's new and it is all 07 stuff.

Can you point me in the right direction?

EDIT: Never mind, just can not see it using FireFox. Had to open it in IE.

Yes sir. I installed a Kenwood DVD/Nav system. (You can see pics at: http://www.houseofshelton.com/gallery2/v/F450/stereo/)

And to Buddy, I can not thank you enough for that link. That is the best $17 spent on the truck yet.

Now I just need to figure out which wire to cut.. er I mean hook up correctly.

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

What factory radio did your truck come with? Here you are, having fun changing out radios and some of us are still waiting for our trucks to be scheduled to be built. Damn it man! That ain't fair! I am tone deaf as hell, too many years working on jets, but I thought the factory radio in the Lariet sounded pretty good. I am going to go out and buy a new CD of Jethro Tull's Aqualung for my first drive or maybe the new Bob Seger CD(have not heard it yet, but keeping my fingers crossed)

Three weeks today and counting.....

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

Yes, I bought the lowest end radio. I wanted navigation in my truck (my wife does not know how to read a map. LOL!) I did not want to pay the factory price for the nav radio. So I did some research and put together my own system. The only place it "failed" was that I can not get a sub behind the rear seat. There is just no room back there.

I ended up with Nav, Sirius (could also have XM, but Sirius has a life time plan for just under $500), Bluetooth (not available factory), and also full iPod control. I also installed new speakers. The entire system with shipping was about $1500.00.

As for the wait... I told you it was a painful period of time. LOL!

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

I am hoping that "maybe" after all this waiting, a rebate may become available. I can get the military $500 rebate, but that is all that is available right now. How I wish Ford would bring back that $2500 rebate that original 6.0 owners were offered about a year ago. That would totally cover the upgrade cost of the Lariet from the XLT. I see Toyota is already offering rebates on their new full size Tundra so it maybe possible.

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

You might be able to fit an SAS Bazooka behind it.

I was able to get one 8" SAS behind my rear seat.

Still tight. If I didn't already have the 8" I would have gone with the 6" Bazooka tubes.

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

I will look into the Bazooka tube.

For a heads up on the DVD situation: It seems that the RSE system requires the factory radio to be installed. It has to do with the "Can-Bus" system they are using now. I am looking into a way to bypass this. I think it may require a reflash at the dealer. Not sure if it is possible or not.

I just wanted this info here for future reference.

What factory audio system did you have, and did it have the factory satellite receiver?

Re: Service Manuals (Wire Schematics)?

I got the lowest end model they would put in the Lariat. (Not sure if there is a lower model for other trims.)

Single CD HU with the RSE. No sat, no nav, no audiophile, no subwoofer.

Hmmm...I don't see where the DVD uses the Mobile Communications Network when equipped with the Base Radio. As best as I can tell, it should just be 8 wires between the Audio Unit and the DVD, and a single black "drain wire" from the DVD player.
