Small Amount of Shudder in Driveline

Finally got around to setting up my Pullrite Super 5th hitch to pull our 5th wheel trailer this weekend. When I hook up the trailer and drop all of the weight into the bed and onto the hitch, the bed squats a couple of inches, just to where the truck is level, and not quite touching the aux. springs. When I begin to pull off, I get a small amount of shudder in the driveline for a few seconds until I get the truck rolling good. I only feel it when the truck starts to roll, then it smooths out....

Is this something that I should have looked at, or should I not worry about it? When I crawl underneath, it looks as if some adjustment in the angle needs to be made, but I'm worried if it its adjusted too much, then I will have even more shudder when the trailer is not hooked up. Re: Small Amount of Shudder in Driveline

I eliminated completely all shutter that I had on my 04 Ex by installing a set of Caltracs. See my last post in the thread I linked below, I hooked up my trailer this past weekend and shutter is gone! The thread has a link to pictures of the Caltracs installed on my Ex.

Re: Small Amount of Shudder in Driveline

I have also experienced a small amount of shudder, however I will wait to see how it developes before I get into a big fix. If it becomes to much of a problem I will get the dealer involved while it is still under warranty.

Good luck.

Re: Small Amount of Shudder in Driveline

There is also the possibility (probably remote) that it could be caused by the torque convertor.

Diesel Jay is probably a lot more qualified to answer that one.
