Steering Box Replacement

My truck went into the shop at a Ford Dealer on 10/23/12 to have a leaking Steering box replace. (Warrently coverage.) The replacement which was ordered 3 weeks prior to 10/23/12 turn out to be unuseble. It is now 11/09/23 and the truck is still in the shop waiting for the 2nd replacement. (The original steering bx was damaged beyond repair while being removed).
I contacted Ford Customer Service on 11/7/12 but still other than lip service, not any results. I have been told that these steering boxes are on a national backup and I will get the next one. (I'm sure this will happen.).
Is this a common problem for these trucks?
This truck is stock with 94,000 miles used to tow a 5th wheel camper.

no not a wide spread problem. Next time try to have yours rebuilt. Red Head I think is who everyone recommends.

Under warranty though, the dealer would just replace not rebuild. Out of warranty go with the rebuild.

I’m sorry for missing your thread, CampingMan. I wanted to check in to be sure the part came in to get your truck back on the road.

Mine sprung a leak earlier this year and left a trail of fluid on my driveway as I was backing out. Instead of replacing it, corporate only authorized rebuilding it with new gaskets or something.

I think it's leaking again because it's wet down there, and I'm past my 3/36

Just as an update, I got my truck back today, 37 days after it went in the shop for the Steering Box replacement.
