Stopping on an unloaded 08 F350 DRW 4x4

Guys is it just me I used to have a 97 F350 and it stopped on a dime. My new truck feels like it just ain't gona stop are the antilock brakes that diffrent. I will be pulling a 14000 5er the truck has 4.10 rear end. Have any of you noticed the lack of stopping strength unloaded?

It will stop you with no problem. It took me a while to get use to it. These trucks do have real nice brakes. I should note that I do have a F450 and just realized your post was for a 350.

It does seem like you need to push the pedal a long way to make the truck stop but they work.

Another thing I noticed and this might be me only but IMO the brake and gas pedal are too close together. When I move my foot to the brake pedal I find myself hitting both of them every so often. I don’t recall ever having this issue with my old 350, 150, or the 3 Ranger’s I’ve had/have.

That curved, banana shaped plastic gas pedal SUCKS. I miss the flat pedal from my 03'. It's an inch further away at the bottom than in the middle.
I was looking to change it, but the pedal is molded right into the lever and not a two piece design..
Really cheap...

Mine panicked stopped just fine when I was going downhill near my house @ 45 MPH with my 10,000# fiver behind me. A kid in his little racer wanna be car darted in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and came to a stop in a hurry. For me combined weight is 19,000#.

Re: Stopping on an unloaded 08 F350 DRW 4x4

When a heavy duty truck is unloaded you get LESS stopping power because the springs and suspension are not pressing the tires into the pavement as much causing more bounce and less traction.

I too have the adjuable pedals but they have nothing to do with it. The adjuable pedals simlply put the pedal closer or futher away from you but it still takes the same amount of travel once you put your foot on the pedal.
