The main thing thats bothering me is looking under the hood. You can't put your hand anywhere under the hood on the Ford. I mean it is full under there and if I keep it 10 yrs like I have this truck sooner or later I'm going to have to work on it. Man what a nightmare that will be. I'm still stuck on the Ford though it's just too dam nice.

i'd say forget ford and move to a duramax or cummings. i got taken twice by the 6.0l and i'm not hearing good things about the 6.4. when i bought the second 6l i was assured by ford that the egr problems and head gaskets were fixed, but my 06 is going the same way as my 04 did, so i'm expecting it to blow up any day now. ford has refused to fix it before it blows up, so i've parked it and am currently looking at the duramax or cummings.

The 6.4 is a good motor. Like I said,I did switch to a Dodge/Cummins during the 6.0 era,but now back to Ford. I sure missed it while I was away. Even if the Chevy motor is good,I can't get passed the looks and interior.Besides,my buddy has one and the thing always has problems

Why park it? Isn't it still under warranty? Or do you want to avoid a bad Oasis report come trade in time?

re: parking it. i can't trust it for a long trip. i had the 04 go while i was on holidays and i feel this one will do the same thing. it's started to go exactly the same way as the 04. ford won't fix it untill it goes completly,so i have no choice but to park it and move on to something more reliable.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again (about the Chevy)- Take a good motor and wrap a piece of crap around it, and what you have is a fast piece of crap.

I never even considered a Chevy. I have a 2003 Yukon it's had at least 1 coat of wax on it since I bought it new and the darn clear coat is coming off the top and bubbling on the hood. To say I'm disappointed in the quality of material and workmanship would be a massive understatement. The leather seats cracked 3yrs in and the materials are subpar to say the least. My last three vehicles have been a 98 GMC diesel, 99 Dodge diesel and now a Ford. I'm not blinded by brand loyalty. It was a tough choice between the Ford and Dodge but the looks and interior of the Ford won out.

I am in the same boat as Tchikn on my Job 1 450. in the shop of 60 days during past 11 months. Everything was great for 16k miles then all hell broke lose for the subsequent 10. Cab off 4 times for wiring, turbo replacement, engine pan and rear seals, hi pressure fuel pump, then the regular fuel pump, radiator, tran control module, valve cover seals, on and on. unfortunately FOrd says no buy back and letter of law in FL says I am out of luck because in FL if you buy used from dealer you do not have same protection as used from private party. Truck had clean OASIS record with 10k miles on it a year ago; now it is a mile long. Even if bought new or from a private perty used real troubles sisn't show up til past the 18 months. Also unfortunately always a different reason for being in the shop. Ford did give me for free the7 year 200k engine warranty, but I know I will be in the shop continuously and that is not why I shelled out 50k. This rig looks and pulls great, and when not on the shop drives like a dream, but is the WORST rig ever owned for repairs, in fact been in the shop in the last year more than everything I have owned over the past 30 years combined. If I was trying to make a living witht he truc I would be broke, as it is I use it to pull a 14k 5er camper and I hate spending nights in a dealership lots across the country.

No one I have talked to (except Tchkin's note) has had anywhere near the troubles I have. I hope my trouble deminish those experienced by others and that the bolts holt on mine after all of the retorqueing going on.
