Time On Regen

How Long Does A Normal Regen Cycle Last. I Am Right Now 15 Minutes And It Has Not Idled Down. Can I Turn Off The Engine While In This Cycle. After It Does Idle Down Should I let It Idle Normal For A While Before Shutdown. OK The Truck Just Idled Down 22 Minutes. Is This Normal

Re: Time On Regen

Question, How many miles did it take before you hit your first regen?

Welcome to the site Backfire. I thought I typed slow but I see it took you 7 minutes to type your post.

Like everyone has said. Completely normal, and completely safe to shut off in the middle of one. Just remember it will come back next time you turn the truck on.

Re: Time On Regen

I have only had one regen at 500 something. It only lasted a couple of minutes. I now have over 1200 miles. I should probably expect another pretty soon.

Hey Bill Welcome to the site.
Its basically the truck increasing EGTs to burn off particles trapped in the DPF which is in the exhaust. The truck will increase idle for a short period get the exhaust hot and then idle back down.
If you need the scientific explanation it would be better to ask it as a question by itself in the site. I myself am not exactly sure what it does and how. The regen I was talking about was my first.

Sorry I could not be more help.

Mine regened right after I drove the truck home new from dealer; just under 100 miles IIRC. Drove to friend's house and had to wait a few minutes in his driveway idling for him to get off of phone and the idle went up and it felt a little rough; got out and walked around to exhaust. I could even feel the heat on the driver's side and it was really putting the heat out at the twin tips. Truck had about 44 miles on it when I bought it.

It has been going into regen about twice a tank.
