Torque specs.....

I need the torque specs for the rear axle leaf spring u-bolts. They appear loose which could be the cause for my problem. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, however, not what I'm looking for, torque for u-bolts is not on that spec list.

Not trying to be smart here, but torque specs are necessary for anything with a seal, or lug nuts for aluminum wheels to prevent warping. Although I'm sure that somewhere there is an "official" spec in some Ford manual somewhere, reba's reply should be good enough. Personally, I'd just get 'em snugged up good and even, use red Locktite and yank 'em down really hard, and call it good. I don't know your mechanical ability, but if you have turned alot of wrenches in your time (and broken as many bolts as I have), you have a pretty good feel when its tight enough for the bolt size.

Heres the rear axle u-bolt torquing procedure as per the 2008 F-350 shop manual
  1. With the suspension at curb height, tighten the nuts evenly in a cross-type pattern in 4 stages.
Stage 1: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

Stage 2: Tighten to 100 Nm (74 lb-ft).

Stage 3: Tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).

Stage 4: Tighten to 185 Nm (136 lb-ft).
