aren't you transferring the bands over to the new wheels?
The bands are not reuseable, the sensors are however. $50 a peice for the stupid bands from ford, what a joke! I bet it costs them a whole dollar to make them, just another way for them to bend us over! I searched and searched for an alternate method of reattaching them but came up with a couple of ideas that failed. So now i ponied up the extra $200 to put them back on the way they came.
If i only knew which fuse (not listed in owners manual), or what wire i would just cut the damn thing!
I have never seen a TPM and don't fully understand how they transmit or what / where the receiver is. That said, is it possible to install TPM's from a F150, which would be lower pressure threshold in the SD wheels? If a F150 TPM is set to "alarm" at say 45psi then a SD owner would have a large margin to adjust pressure as he sees fit.
Just a thought from an idle mind.
I read somwhere to stick the sensors in a pvc tube with a valve stem in the end, pressure it up till the puter is happy then hoseclamp it to the frame and buy a pressure guage like in the old days.
I too read about defeating the TPMS with a PVC tube with a valve stem on one end. I read it on here. My truck doesn't have it, but my next one will. I will try it then.

Unfortunately the PVC tube trick does not work. The sensors need to be rotating/moving at 20 mph or more for them to "wake up" and start sending signal. When the sensors do not sense movement at 20 mph or greater for more than 30 minutes they will go into a sleep mode. Being in a PVC tube they will not sense motion and will not send signal to the SJB which will eventually set off a DTC.

I too read about someone doing the pvc tube trick with a gm vehicle, but as stated i don't beleive it works on the fords. If you can replace the bands for $55 plus shipping like i did, why wouldn't you?? Better than screwing around with a unproven tactic that may or may not work. Hopefully will have my bands later today (had them overnighted) so i can finally get my wheels/tires put one!

Here is some information that Ford released to service personnel on the TPMS subject...
2006-2008 VEHICLES - TPMS CANNOT BE TURNED OFF OR REPROGRAMMED
2006-2008 VEHICLES WITH TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) CANNOT BE DISABLED OR REPROGRAMMED TO A LOWER OR HIGHER TIRE PRESSURE. THIS SYSTEM IS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL REGULATION. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS DEALERS FROM DISABLING TPMS. IF A DEALER DISABLES TPMS, THE DEALER CAN BE SUBJECT TO FINES OF $6,000 PER VEHICLE. AFTERMARKET WHEELS AND TIRES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED. REFER CUSTOMERS TO THEIR OWNERS GUIDE FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.

Well, I'm sure I don't have TPMS on my 2007. I have thought of avoiding the expense of the new 20's when I order a 2008 and just switching the wheels/tires (20's) from my 2007 to the new 2008 upon delivery at the dealer. I would then expect the TPMS warning light to be on all the time. I sure hope there is a bulb in the back of the cluster to pull out. If not, I assume it will burn out after a few thousand miles.

The bulb is not whats a pain for me I can live with it. It's the stupid low tire pressure warning message staring me in the face and I have to reset it eveytime.
Unfortunately the PVC tube trick does not work. The sensors need to be rotating/moving at 20 mph or more for them to "wake up" and start sending signal. I did this on an a 07 mustang and it does work. Tires do not need to be turning for sensors to work. The SJB will wake them up when you reach around 20 mph. If sensors go to sleep let the air out and refill. I did this over 2 years ago and is still working fine. The car sits all winter and the sensors have not went to sleep yet. I keep them in a tube under my drivers seat at 30 psi. PVC will take 250 psi plus. My car has blue sensors I think the truck have green ones with higher pressure rating. My light will come on if the tube leaks below 26 psi. Again this is not hear say i am doing it. Sometimes power sub stations set off a light so i hit the reset and good to go. I did not check on how the truck system works but i bet its close to the same. Good luck
Just for my information, why is this required by the government?
The Firestone recall in the United States in the late 1990s which was attributed to more than 100 deaths from rollovers following a tire tread-separation, pushed the Clinton administration to publish the TREAD Act. This act mandates the use of a suitable TPM technology in order to alert drivers of a severe under-inflation condition of their tires. This act affects all light motor vehicles (<10,000 lb) sold after 1 September2007.

While on my first camping trip at a State Park with my new truck last year, I noticed a guy with cool 2008 F250 with so many after market parts on it that you could hardly tell it was a Superduty. The next day I made a plan and ambushed him because I was new to a diesel truck and had lots of questions. He was a great guy, he removed his DPF, added a programmer, lift kit, tires, rims….etc. Anyway, being a diesel newbie, when I brought up that the tires that came with my truck are crap and on all my other vehicles I’ve bought an extra set of snow tires on plain rims for the winter season, this is when he pulled out from behind his rear seat a 10” length of yellow plastic high pressure natural gas pipe and briefly told me about the TPMS sensors, At that time I knew I wasn’t going to put on 37” tires so I didn’t think that I was going to have a problem with snow tires, so through my ignorance I had to drive in winter weather with summer tires because of a government safety regulation!! I don’t know his forum name, but I know he is a member of this forum and hopefully he will read this post and respond. My truck has 65psi in the front and 80psi in the rear and it came with a TPMS Fob in the glove box, I’m going to have to find out if I can lower the rear tire pressure to 65psi during pot hole season also, without ending up in TPMS prison.

I didn't know that. I always thought the TPM was to save fuel! Remember a few months back when Obama said if everyone would inflate their tires to the recommended pressure we would save gazillions of gallons of gas.
