I have noticed this past week that the only way my truck will shift into OD is for me to let my foot off the pedal, or if the truck is going down a grade. I haven't noticed this until after I had the new flash done on the computer. And today I was pulling my 18' landscape trailer empty bucking alittle bit of wind and running 70mph with cruise on. My truck was cranking 2700 rpm's and 30 + lbs of boost and the only way I could get my truck to shift was to hit the decelerate button on the cruise for a second or 2 and then it would go in OD. And it does this towing or empty. Doesn't matter which. I don't think this is right and I didn't know if someone else has experienced this after they've had the reflash. I know this isn't the way this tranny is programmed because our '05 shifts flawlessly. Any insight would really be great as I will be calling the dealer tomorrow.

Is it in tow haul mode? I notice this truck takes it time shifting if there is any amount of grade while hauling and I've found myself taking my foot off the gas because I want to save gas or fuel I should say..
It probably isn't anything..

I don't generally use the Tow Haul Mode, but it doesn't matter if it's on or off. I really don't think this is normal. Once the truck hits a certain speed, it should shift into OD unless it's laboring. And this truck isn't laboring.

Has anybody else had this problem and if you did, have you put a programmer in and got rid of this problem? Still haven't called the dealer because I know that they aren't gonna know anything and I will lose my truck for a day.

Mine is not quite that severe, but I have had the same complaint. The dealer told me that performance will improve once the transmission is up to operating temperatures.... it does improve, but I still quite often have to release the go pedal to get it to drop into overdrive, and this is empty.
I have 2400 miles on mine and have noticed the same problem with overdrive. It seems you have to be off of the go pedal to drop rpms to go into overdrive. I have not experienced any shuttering or bucking, but if it is in overdrive any climbing a grade it will downshift out until I reach 50mph or 55mph. Hope this helps, hate to say it but I bet it is normal.

I've seen the same thing shifting into OD, but I always thought it was related to my larger wheels and tires and the additional load. My boost also runs higher then previous trucks. I have to left off the throttle a little to get it to shift into OD. If I get onto the freeway it takes a long time to get up to speed where it will shift into OD automagically. I recently regeared from 3.73's to 4.30's and I've noticed that it shifts into OD a little earlier, but in all honesty I don't have enough miles on the new gears to say that they definitely made a difference.
I've got 9,000 miles on my truck now so I will say that more miles on the tranny won't solve anything. I don't mean to sound like some guys that do nothing but bash their new truck. That's not my purpose. I just don't think this is right. Our '05 shifts great so I assumed with this new truck having the same tranny, it would too. Boy was I wrong. So, does anybody know if a programmer will sove this since Ford apparantly can't?

We have an 2008 F350 4WD crewcab that pulls our camper and horse trailer. We have the same problem as Funkster. It after cresting a hill and even when going down hill, it won't shift into overdrive. We top out at 45mph. The only way to get it out of the lower gears, is to slow down shift it into 2nd, then 3rd then overdrive. This happens when tow haul is on or off. Dealership says there is nothing wrong with it. Can you help?
My 08 does the same thing, it won't shift into od when in cruise unless going down a steep hill, once in od even the slightest breeze will kick it out while towing. Unloaded I never had a problem. The tow haul made zero diff. with it not going into od in cruise, now when I tow I rarly use cruise and just try to anticipate the hills better. My trips are usually about 300 miles but it does make the foot tired without cruise. I just had it to the dealer for the recalls 2 weeks ago and got the trans flash, my comp. had the latest flash from last fall, did not make a diff. towing. I thought there was a flash that would say when you go into regen but was told thats not available but have heard others say they get a dpf cleaning message?
My 99 would go into od at 45 pulling the same jayco and hold od while increasing speed, my 08 won't. At 70mph in od my 99 could accelerate to 80 without down shifting

If your truck won't go over 45 mph, then yes there is a problem, take it to a diff dealer.
