Sorry to hear of these problems. Ford should eat it. If Ford loses their loyal truck fans it is going under! I've had good luck with my '00 but after viewing the attitude of these dealers I would not buy another one. I think Ford should view this web site and take note. Personally, I do not think that any of the above is your problem. The engine will start but die soon afterward. If Ford cannot diaignos that they should't be in the truck business!

If the dpf is actually shot (completely plugged up), which would explain the constant regen you were having, then it makes sense that it won't run, with all that back pressure. Good luck man.... looking forward to hearing the outcome of this one. Hope things start to turn for the better.
Well here it is on day 22 in the shop and still not starting/ running ... I called and the service manager said he would get back to me when he gets more detail....

This is one of the rare times I would say, try to get it lemoned. Working on a 6.4L is not rocket science! Maybe the tech or the dealer does not have a ton of experience with the 6.4L. The truck obviously has a hard fault, should not be that hard to find. So what's the deal with it? It wont crank? It will crank but will not start? Do you have a list of DTC's? I'm suprised that even with the FSE they can't figure it out.

The issue starte with a noise on the passanger side of the truck like " turbo fart " sound. took it in and they test drove it and it died, no codes or check engine light When i brought it in. They took off valve covers to check the injuctors to see it they were leaking ... a fter a week of breaking down everything the FSE came out and started over and said to replace all 8 injectors and high pressure fuel pump and a wire harness. after they did that the truck started and then when they went to drive it it died pulled code for fuel presure system and air temp for intake and a dpf code. the tech said raw fuel was coming out of the exhaust when it was running, becaus of the injectors I guess. I will try to get codes they pulled. As of yesterday they were replacing the high pressure pump again and putting on a new dpf filter and hope to have it running today ...

Good grief! It's a complex engine, but not *that* complex. If there is raw fuel coming out the tail pipe, the only thing I can think of that could cause that would be an injector(s) stuck open *or* a failed injector driver in the PCM keeping a perfectly good injector(s) open constantly. From what I've read in the manuals, a leak most anywhere in the high pressure fuel lines would be putting fuel into the oil, not the exhaust. A failed injector driver would probably show perfectly normal info on the computer too. They should put a scope on the actual injector drive lines and/or try a different PCM.
Seriously! This is getting ridiculous. I bet the DPF is plugged up like a CORK now, from the previous (fixed) injector failure.
I've never heard of someone having so much trouble just getting it RUNNING. Good luck jays2003, I hope things start to turn around for you. I would go to a different dealer if you ever have an issue in the future.
I got my truck back last night. Here is what went donw. I brought it in for the noise i heard, and when they drove it it died . When the FSE came out he said replace the injectors and pumps low and high. The tech replaced the injectors and the pump. put it all back together, started it and it was running went to drive died . Well come to find out, both fuel pumps failed and sent particals throught the fuel sys tem causing the injectors to fail or stick open and dump raw fuel throught the exhaust system, the FSE did not tell the tech to flush out all the lines on the fuel system.snce the lines were not flushed when it was all finished the particals were pushed throught the system causing the injectors to fail and blew another pump. now there has been 16 injectors changed 2 high pressure pumps 1 low pressure pump wire harness 1 new DPF ,and to top it all off the noise i brought it in for is still there now tht it is running again the tech and i went for a drive and her heard it and said it is the lower tube off the turbo vibrating and will need to ne changed , i asked how ,, he said the cab needs to come off.... that make it the 4th time it has come off. So this morning when i went to leave for work i saw a puddle of oil under the truck coming from over the starter , called ford told them while the cab is off to replace the lower tube fix the opil leak.... Good times ... The saga goes on ..... is it to early to start drinking ???

So, by design, there isn't a fuel filter past the second fuel pump on the way to the injectors?
Short_stuff
The second pump is the high pressure pump, everything past it runs 1,200-24,000 PSI or so, making it rather difficult to design a safe filter housing that could be serviced by an average person like the two fuel filters on the low pressure side can be.
