You might find this interesting. Video about the pumps. Notice the part about 1/3 of the way through, where he shows the actual shavings from the pump, after it had been run on gasoline.

Plugged DPF

Any chance you'd get to salvage/keep the old plugged DPF? I live in Hanford & would be interested in seeing the damage if the dealership hasn't tossed it.

So, do you have the oil drip, etc. fixed by now? Is it running ok?
I would've lost patience with ford and the dealership long before all of the later stuff happened.

Short_stuff,

The parts needed to be next day orders, They ordered them Wednesday the 18th and i told them I will need my truck Monday ( today ) because Im leaving for out of town.Well here it Monday and the parts did not show up until Late Friday and truck is still not done. I called first thing this morning at 07:00 asked for the service manager, sorry he is on vacation and told her oh ya no kidding so would I if your service dept had their S&^t together. Litlte did I know she is the main customer service Manager for the dealership. She asked me what was going on and i told her the long story, she said let me call you back. 20 min later the call back she assured me that the truck would be tonight at 18:00 ?! So now I wait again ... So needless to say I very pissed I grinding my teeth, Im really so pissed i cant even talk to them at this time.

If she is the main Customer service manager, I would be gobsmacked if she didn't have any idea of what had been going on, especially with the history of your truck.
On the other hand, I would be little nervous heading out on a trip with the truck, knowing that they performed a 'hurry up' repair at the last minute. I think I would want to get a few miles on it before I relied on it for the trip. (not saying you didn't try). Again, I would've lost patience long before you did.

He we go.... The service center called and said that your truck is ready, new cab mount and down pipe less the oil leak because they did not have the part to fix before my trip, fine it will be done next week. I pick up my truck Monday noght drove it home everything fine, tuesday took it to work getting ready to head out of town.. the truck goes into re-gen at a stop and i notice smoke behind my cab.. think nothing of it becasue of the new pipe burning in .. next stop light whole cab fills with exhaust so thick you can taste it coming up form floor and in throught the vents.. You want to see pissed you should have seen me i drove it right to Ford and yelled for a tech to come out here and find out what the hell they did to my truck.. Of course all hte managers were gone because of the Holiday . Finally got the gm to come out and I told him what was on my mind and a few other things. I told him that if i had my family in the truck on a long trip when it was filing with exhaust and something happen to them, I would hold him , the service tech, and ford responsible for everything. Then I Told him I will leave my truck here and will not pick it up until it is 100% fixed! Then i told not asked him you will give me a truck equal to mine so i can get on my trip. So short of the long, I left there with an 05 crew 4x4 to get on my trip. the tech that had been working on my truck now is an oil change guy. Ford customer service called me friday and said that I will have my truck back Monday and it will be 100% fixed, I told him I will believe it when i seen needless to say i have nice size complant file with ford. If there is anything that is not correct when i pick it up today they will hear about it. I still cant believe what a cluster this whole thing has been. I place all the blame on the tech who worked on it , there is no reason it so long to find this problem.

I really feel for you, yeah that guy was no tech, don't think I would want him making fries at McDonlds either.

Ford should give you additional warranty and make a few payments for you because of this...and get your work done somewhere else if you can.

Glad you weren't on the road some place with your family. Its a good thing that it did it before you headed out. I think at this point, I'd be ripping the GM, the service manager, and any one else I could get my hands on a new one for putting you and your family at risk. Let us know if you pick it up today. My money says it won't be ready.

I'd contact the corporate headquarters in Dearborn. Write a letter - it seems to make a better impression than just a phone call since a letter becomes part of the "record" (e.g., goes into their document imaging system and gets assigned to a department to follow up on). List out all that's been done to the truck and how this hapless dealership has dealt (or failed to in this case) with the problems. I'd also contact the Attorney General's office in your state to see what can be done to remedy the situation (e.g., get a new replacement truck).

I'm a supporter of Ford products and even own their stock, but if Ford is going to ignore what their "independent" dealerships' incompetent service departments are doing, then Ford is going to lose customers even if their products are good.

This just keeps getting worse... besides taking forever to fumble through the engine, the tech didn't even install the downpipe with a tight seal?? (Most likely the source of smoke in the cab.) I can't believe they have this guy working on diesels, which is probably the source of all of this. What's even more unbelievable is... they could have easiliy taken the truck out and driven it for a few miles just to follow up and make sure they'd done everything right... instead of putting you through the misery of finding all of the problems they've created.

I hope this time things finally go well (and with a different tech).

Short_Stuff,

You win , it was not ready. They want to make sure when it goes into regen it is not filling the cab with exhaust. So now i might not get it untill tonight 12/1/09. I have made 2 calls to the service manager to call me back because i have some questions for him, i have yet to hear back.. Come on man my truck has been if their hands for 35 days. I believe im entitled to a call back at least.. The saga Continues....

I hate bad mouthing anyone or company but come on, some times it seems I know more than the tech.
