truth or rumor

The dealers in my area said that you wont see to many 6.4 superduties being built or delivered until Ford and International come to terms on their warranty issues steming from the 6.0. This could put production months behind if this is true.

Re: truth or rumor

I think you'll see a whole bunch being built and delivered, until/unless they run out of engines before they come to an agreement. (Rumored to be 25K engines or more all ready to be installed.)

Re: truth or rumor

In this day and age when it is all about "on time delivery", 25K doesn't sound plausible. If somebody said 2.5K I might believe it.

Re: truth or rumor

I am not sure wat the "hold" is, but the convoy lot at LAP is half full of superduty's, the other half has explorers/mountaineers and sport tracs. There is bunch outside the plant at KTP in various lots at the plant also. (LAP is approx. 30 miles from KTP)

Re: truth or rumor

Assume 900,000 F Series per year, 40% which are Superuties. About 75% are diesels. That gives us about 270,00 SD's per year with diesel. That's 22.5k per month. So 25k engines are about a months supply, or just about enough for crate engines that they will need for warranty work. That's a logical impossibility. If the problems with the 6.4 are bad enough that they need that many crate engines for warranty work... they'll never sell anywhere near that many trucks with the 6.4, thus they won't need that many crate engines for warranty work!

Re: truth or rumor

Just an added thought why are we seeing very few 6.4's on the lots and some new gas xl models. The 6.4 should be the most popular model that they would want on the lots. I am from New England and travel quite a bit and I don't see any of the diesels on the lots. It just seems odd maybe there is some truth to this dispute between Ford and International. Re: truth or rumor

Well the dispute between them is undisputed fact, reported in the newspapers. But the reason you don't see the trucks on lots yet is because they literally *just* started shipping them out last week. They should be all over the place in the next month or two.

Re: truth or rumor

Intl built 40,000 engines last year??????

Its called just in time. They don't build that far ahead on anything. Look at the date on your engine tag on the FICM, then look at the date on the truck. My guess is 14 day max difference.

Its called inventory turns, JIT, you name it but nothing is built that far ahead.

My truck was built 11/20/2002 using and engine dated 11/12/12002 (Huntsville).
