Turbo blown???

Hi! this moorning i was driving up a hill around 40 mph 2500 rpm, with my Fu.....g 6.4 2008, suddenly i heard like and explosion in my motor, the truck keep running but no more power, no turbo boost, i hardly kept 40 mph on flat . monday i will have it check at the dealer. The Truck is only 4000 Km (about 2500 miles) it is the second time in the shop since october 10th. I love my truck but really i want to ask you a question: I Ford still know how to built truck?? i have a 2004 gmc 2500hd wuth duramax and i never went to the dealer with that truck and now 1000000 miles. i'm really disapointed with my new truck, also fuel mileage is impossible: average 8-9 miles per gallons, city+highway i realy thing there is also something wrong there. my duramax is doing 17-18 miles per gallons. big difference for a similar truck. I'm planning a trip in usa (florida texas) +/- 8000 miles this winter, towing a 14k FW. i'm just asking if i should use my old GMC for that trip, i can't spend 1-2 week in the shop. Let me know what you think? i alway's had ford truck but my last one was a GMC because my father in law own a GMC dealership. i did even bought a Ford because i did prefer the look ans strongnest of the ford but let me tell me that my father in law . Thank for your help.

Now, thats alot of miles
On a serious note, if your GMC is getting 17-18 mpg then by all means, take your trip with the GMC.
Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Re: Turbo blown???

It sounds like a turbo boot blew off, it's a simple fix thease are between the turbo the CAC(innercooler) and the intake manifold connector pipes held on with spring type band clamps, just reconnect it.

It happens.

Some say the material they use in the stock boots isn't compatable with oil and soften up and slip off, there are aftermarket boots that are compatable with oil... but i have no experiance with either as of yet, so i wont speculate.

Re: Turbo blown???

My friend had a gasket blow in between the turbos. This sounds like what she went through. I took them 2 weeks to find it and fix it.

I'm guessing he's from Quebec and English is a 2nd (or 3rd) language... A lot of the sentence structure is French... Either that or my 9 year old snuck in here and posted.

As far as his truck's problem... With as few the miles on it, I'd lean towards an IC boot. That wouldn't give him the loud noise he heard when it started acting up though...

It's under warranty, I'd let Ford figure this one out.

Re: Turbo blown???

Well, I can see why his name is Math and not "English."

Seems he can use the F-word correctly, though.

Re: Turbo blown???

just to throw my opinon in,if your D-Max is getting that much better Mileage I think I would use that for your trip, the savings will be substantial with an 8K trip,I hope Ford get's it fixed Quickly for you. BTW even though English is your second languge,I could understand it better than some who claim English as their primary languge LOl.

Re: Turbo blown???

Hi! i found the problem. it was a turbo boot near the intercooler see pic as you told me . I was very happy that it was only this "little" problem. i fix it myself and now my truck goes like it should . I just have an other question: Should i ask anything to my dealer to look at /or replace boot or clamp or silicon??? i just don't want this to happen again. Thank again for your help ,it's appreciated.

Sincerely M.B.

Re: Turbo blown???

Glad you got it fixed. I would not take it to the dealer unless you just had some time to kill, it should be fine. Good Luck on your trip. These are comfortable, easy to drive trucks. That being said the fuel mileage is alot better on the older Chevy. If money doesn't matter I would take the Ford. If your passing thru the Bluegrass State and need any help just let me know, glad we could help.
