Talking Ulsd Or Lsd

I Just Started Filling Up At Valero & Noticed At Least 2 Regens Per Tank. I Was Filling Up At Shell & Noticed 1 Regen Per 1 To 2 Tanks. We Have A Fuel Tank At Work & When They Deliver It Sometimes Is Lsd & Sometimes Ulsd. This Makes Me Wonder What We Are Getting At The Pump. Ultimately The Lsd Will Give Our Dpf Hell In The Long Run. I Also Have Been Getting Alot Of Water At Valero.

Your truck has to use USLD, and avoid the the high priced water. A high content of water will damage injectors etc. The USLD has an affinity for water, and bacteria. Only purchase fuel from a high volume station, and monitor water content.

Drain the lower filter (does the 6.4 have a HFCM?) into a glass jar at least monthly, or if you suspect the place you get fuel, after a fill up or two.

If you have consistent problems with WIF at that station, let the manager or owner know you can't purchase any fuel from them until they get that fixed.

I drain mine once every other month. Stuff always comes out. It's clear and ALWAYS smells like diesel. So what should it look/smell like???

You need to drain it into a clear container. The diesel and water will separate and the water will show up on the bottom. It is a lot like salad dressing the water will always settle to the bottom and not mix with the oil.
