I was very glad to see that there aren't TOO many bad reports on these new trucks. There will always be those that have problems & they're generally the most vocal, so I'm pretty impressed with how few people had bad things to say (other than the fuel mileage). So far, I absolutely love the truck. I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but according the the LIE-O-METER, I'm consistently getting 17mpg at 65 MPH & it drops to just over 15mpg at 70 MPH. Around town, it says I'm getting around 12-13. I'm anxious to take my first road trip so I can hand calculate & see how far off it is. Either way, I'm babying the hell out of it & it's getting FAR better mileage than I expected. I'll update after I take a road trip & calculate it manually.
Flame away....

Update?? You only got it 30 minutes ago! The ink isn't even dry on the papers yet.
Go enjoy the Houston traffic but don't baby diesels - they're not made for it.

What truck do you have? F-250,350,450? Crew Cab long bed 4x4? All that will determine if anyone will bash you. Now if you say a F-450 then wait until you hand calculate and that lie-o-meter will really be telling lies to ya.

I don't know why my signature isn't showing up????? It's an F250, crew cab 4x4 with the 6.4 powerstroke.
Well, I say Good for you! It's nice to see someone who enjoys the 6.4 and the mileage. I've seen many people report the "lie-o-meter" is actually pretty close on the new trucks. My 2005's is only about 1 mpg off. You got a Great truck and a hell of a deal.

That seems pretty consistent with what Im getting according to the meter. From what ive hand calculated my meter is about a MPG on the high side. Nice truck and a smoking deal.

Sorry to possibly hijack this thread to but the guys that have KR's with higher milage and/or lots of seat abuse, how are the seats color holding up over time? I see that the seats in the 03-07 KR's loose their color and get spotty looking. I'm looking at an 08 KR and currious as to how the sets will hold up.

Bob360,
I took delivery of my KR three weeks ago. It was built in February 2008 and had been sitting outside for awhile. I noticed the seats looked a little rough and dried out. One of the first things I did was to apply a top quality leather treatment to the seats. They drank it up. The truck sat in the sun for two hours after application, warming up the cab. I then applied additional leather treatment to any spots that still looked dry. Two hours after that I wiped down the seats with a towel. I was concerned that I'd see dye or leather treatment on my clothes - didn't see a drop.
Glad I did it! They look great now.
Actually the "lie-o-meter" is ALWAYS going to be more accurate then hand calc's unless you have a programmer or chip. The meter measures exactly how much fuel went in and how far you traveled since the last time you pushed re-set.
You on the other hand are getting an approximate indication of how much fuel you used because you can only fill till it clicks off. Seems the folks that try the hardest to get an accurate hand calc always report the meter was spot on.
When you re-program the truck it is hard for us to guess what impact that might have on the meter. maybe a lot, maybe none.

Plus the hand calc relies on the accuracy of the station's fuel pump
