Re: What will the power numbers be???

Tons of speculation,,, No one will know for sure until FORD releases them.. Check out the competition and plan on something rather close...

Pray for a flat torque curve that starts low and something that gets better mpg than what we currently have....

Re: What will the power numbers be???

I was told out in Sturgis last month that the 6.4l will be 350 hp and 650ft/lbs torque. It will also be a fuel guzzler, around 8 to 10 mpg.

Re: What will the power numbers be???

Easy guys.... the numbers that he threw around have been stated in several different forums, not just those for truck enthusiasts like ourselves. There must be more than a hint of truth (although I am really surprised by how low the MPG figures are...perhaps they refer to towing figures) to this because Ford had a survey not too long ago for prospective truck buyers asking what they preferred, and one option was for a 6+L diesel with those numbers exactly... now all of this may refer more to the changes that will be coming with the 2010 emission changes, I don't know.

giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, I can see where someone who works either for Ford or International may possibly have a motorcycle hobby....

Re: What will the power numbers be???

HP Numbers are probably something along those lines, now MPG numbers, I really doubt that

Re: What will the power numbers be???

I was talking about the mpg numbers, sorry for the confusion.I have heard the same power numbers as listed above. I think that is an honest estimate of the actual hp/tq numbers.
There is no way this new engine gets less mpg than the engine it will soon replace.

Re: What will the power numbers be???

The gentleman I talked to in Sturgis is a Ford engineer. He knew his stuff as him & I talked for an hour on both the 6.0L and the new 6.4L. I too, have a pretty good idea of what end of the wrench to grab. I am passing on what he told me. He did state that you have to sacrifice somethng to make power. Now I would think there will be after market companies coming up with devices that will boost power and fuel economy. I am not trying to start a war, or anything like that. I will e-mail the gentleman back at Ford and reconfirm this with him. Thanks.

Re: What will the power numbers be???

The other things I am hearing is that the new emissions stuff will kill our MPG. At least until they figure it out anyway. Like the early 70's when smog pumps were high tech.

They will get it though, and I could be wrong. It's just my take on what I am seeing.

I sure hope I am wrong.

Re: What will the power numbers be???

I spoke to a IH service foreman today, i asked him about the 6.4, now on the IH side they are setting the hp at 300. He also said with everying thing he has had to learn about it, he said that he feels that this motor will be as dependible as the 7.3 were.
