As I understand it the 6.0 will not meet certain emissions guidelines, hence the creation of the 6.4. Does anyone know when the 6.0 will no longer be able to be sold? I am asking this because I hope Ford does not have to "rush" the 6.4 out the door, like they did the 6.0.

They can't MAKE any 6.0 after Dec. 31, 2006, But they can sell the 6.0 for a while.
2007's will have a 6.0 in it
The 2008 Super Duty should be out in Jan
The Official release of the new truck and engine will be in 2 weeks at the Texas State Fair

So the 2007 will probably only be a half year production, or they could stockpile some 6.0 engines made before the deadline and continue to sell 07's into the spring if the 6.4 is having some issues. At some point International is going to have to pull the plug on the 6.0 and start the 6.4 and if they are going to release the 08's in 1/07 it would seem that they will be building 6.4's for production trucks, very very soon. I remember that the first 03 6.0's were made in October of 02, and mine was made in November of 02 so they are probably pretty close to shutting down the 6.0 operation as we speak.

Not true. The 6.0L will continue production in the Econoline for the next several model years.

I am only talking about the 6.0's that were going into SD Trucks. Vans don't interest me. But hey, thanks, good to know someone is still going to have to suffer with the 6.0.
As far as the Econoline, the 6.0L is already detuned for the van, which may make emissions low enough to continue production. It was a major fiasco to get the 6.0L engineered into the van (vans were catching on fire) they are going to need some time with the 6.4L which will probably be an even tighter fit, if it fits at all.
Remember, it isn't the size of the engine that's the major problem, it's all the emissions crap on the outside of the engine.
