i had the same problems as listed here on the white smoke, there is a service bullitin on it telling the dealer to change out the EGA Cooler, the fron cooler on the truck, they changed mine out and it was good for about 10000 miles and it has started again, so they are trying to get a compter to install in the truck that i can activate when it does it so they can monitor all the parameters of the truck, the area rep is also involved now. I dont want this to be my problem when the warranty runs out.

This sounds like a step in the right direction. Keep us posted. I had the same results as you. My truck did great for a while after getting the new CAC but now its back again.

Yes my 08 does this not only when wet but dry also, I live in new england and it does't matter warm or cold out.The motor is always warm and been running for at least1/2 hour at high way speeds it has been to the shop 7 times for this problem and still no codes show up. Have replaced 5 diffrent sensors with no help
My 08 does some what the same thing though it doesn't have to be damp out to have the smoke screen. The ford dealer I bought the truck from has put a reading box in the truck I will e-mail as soon as I get some more info as to what is making this happen. I hope it will pick up on some thing.
My '08 is a Job 1. It had a new DPF and EGR installed at 80k. Nearly 105k on it now, and it will *occasionally* stumble slightly at highway speed, rolling into the throttle. NO SMOKESCREEN, though, at all. Letting off the throttle and getting back on cures it......
Does not seem to correlate to REGEN (originally, I thought it did).
Truck was reflashed on 12-29-08 (shows Exhaust cleaning message).
Thoughts? Not a big deal, as long as it's hot hurting anything or going to leave me stranded
Could this be the CAC? Anybody know what the part costs, and how much labor (engine is under Fords ESP Powerstroke warranty, but that's not a covered item)
Why is Ford refusing to acknowledge this problem. I've had my truck in no less than 7 times with the same complaint; hesitation, tons of white smoke and feeling likes its missing, and they say no other customer has ever reported this problem.
Guys, my truck did it also, when wet only, i came to this site and starting reading and researching and someone actually showed the Ford service bulleting number TSB 8-25-01, i had that performed and all is well since
I had the same problem, took it to the dealer, described it, showed them the TSB and next day had a new intercooler. 3000 miles in the same weather conditions and no hesitation or white smoke.
Ok, had to revive this thread a bit. I just took my truck in because I have the same problem, sputters, hesitates and smoke out the tailpipe. Dealership said they could find nothing wrong. I looked on here and mentioned the TSB 8-25-01 to them. They said it did not apply because that TSB does not mention the hesitation problem. I sure would love to hear from someone that has actually had this problem fixed so my dealer can fix my truck. Anyone have any luck?
You guys should check out the Ford Truck Forums under 6.4 engine section. There is a thread called TSB hesitation in damp weather or something like that and someone says toward the end of the thread that his dealer found a bad MAP sensor and something else. Maybe this is the fix we've been looking for.

My dealer refused 3 times and finally did it. The problem is all but gone. At times I still feel the tiniest bit of shudder. But for the most part before the truck was horrible before the fix. Have them call Gene Latta ford in Pa. if you need a dealer to vouch for the repair working.

I will tell you the same i have told others. Go drive your truck in the rain in at least 50F temp weather for 30min away from your dealer. Then turn around and drive 30min back to the dealer and turn the truck off. Now go get the dumb ass service manager and tell him to put his head under the drivers side of your CAC while you unscrew the big hose that connects to the CAC. Now while your removing the clamp that holds the hose in place proceed to ask him if water should be in your CAC and if so would it cause steam to come out of your exhaust during a hard acceleration. When he says thats not your problem proceed to remove the hose and then laugh your ass off after he's soaking wet. I promiss you will FEEL so much better whether he fixes it or not. I have tried this except for having his head under there and the service writer couldn't believe it. Sometimes I wonder how these guys have a job as they should be working at a gas station pumping gas.

Lol, that's kind of what I figured. Nobody wants to troubleshoot a problem anymore. They just want to do what a piece of paper tells them to.
Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a CAC? Thanks.
