I did say NO! If you have no major issues keep it! I traded a 7.3 for my 6.4, 2 mouths later I got another 7.3. So, with the price of fuel why trade a fine truck in, that gets better mpg and you don't have to a big truck payment. If I had to do it again, I would have kept the 7.3.

Thumbs up

Keep the 7.3 ! Those incentives will always be around..you have a good truck, low milage, etc.,if you think your truck is looking old, buy new tires and wheels or something, thats a lot cheaper than a new truck.

I agree. I had a 7.3 and now have a 6.4. Don't miss anything about the 7.3. Noise, smoke, ride, interior, ect. I love my 6.4. Even the mileage!

No comparison between the two trucks. My 2008 is the best looking, riding, handling, pulling beast I've ever owned and I've owned them all. My other vehical is a 2007 BMW545I and I prefer to drive my F350. Go figuar

I think the range of replies on here have summed it up well. if you are happy with yours keep it. The new ones are so much more refined in all areas that they make my truck seem crude and rough around the edges just as my 6.0 did that to the 7.3 trucks.
The 7.3 does have its strong point in that it is quite simple and reliable without the emissions add ons of the newer models.

Is it me or does HARLEY350's badging look like a gas motor? I bet it's nice not paying diesel prices.

I only had 44000 miles on my 02 7.3. I like everything about this truck except the mileage and the cost of replacing the DPF($3600 Canadian) But I'm seriously considering selling it and looking for another low mileage 7.3. This things a pig on fuel. I'm getting about 12 mpg in the city now and the 7.3 got about 18. Unfortunately short of removing the DPF I can't see any way of improving it.

I think I will wait until I see an 08 with at least 100K on the odometer. Then, I might think about buying one, making it "off road" compatible (remove DPF) and then see what kind of mileage I can get out of it.

Anyone know what an 08 without the DPF will for mileage with common other mods (intake, chip, etc.)??

No I would not trade. That being said, if you are willing to write off the warranty and do your own service, the 6.4 can perform to an amazing level. You just have to have the time and tools to perform your own service and not live in a state that monitors emissions.

I live in a state that monitors emissions, just reinstall the dpf when that time comes and then set the tune back to stock.

Seabee: Huh? I live in Texas and I have never had an emission test done on a diesel. Is this something new? When did this start and what years are they testing? Is an 08 going to be subject to testing? I live in one of the crap counties that test everything but they have never tested my TDI. Thanks.
