Theres very few 7.3s that have less then 150,000 miles. Its been over 4 years since they last made them. Yopu guys will be driving these trucks quicker then you think. Once there out an you get a good look at them youll be sold

That's odd... I have an 02 with 45K, friend has 03 with 48K, and another friend has an 02 with 50K..
I think there are quite a few still out their.. especially those that aren't fleet trucks...
15K average / year for most people.... Not to start a war, but I've personally seen very few 01-02's with 80+ K.. Except, mind you for a fleet/ or over the road RV hauler...
If you want a 7.3, you can still find them.... IMO

Take a look at your wrist, see the that's right there's a little FORD Blue blood in all of us... Even the JAP Diesel lovers....
For guys that are not in fleets and don't go state to state in their trucks, My dad has a 97 with 132000 miles on it. Clean as can be. I know of a 6.9 diesel that has probably 250000 and it doesn't burn any oil. Pulls stuff great two. Manual tranny helps with that. the only engine that has had terrible problems is the 6.0. Ford's getting rid of it so we hope to see a new better more reliable engine. I know that Ford has great trucks though.
Interesting tidbit: My dad bought an '85 F-250 2wd 6.9L w/4spd manual. It was geared way to high, which was murder on the clutch, but that truck is still on the road today. He gave it to an employee three or four years ago when it had somewhere in the vicinity of 225,000-250,000 miles on the ticker (I can't remember exactly what it had). Who knows how many miles it has on it now, but I can say this employee drives it quite a bit. I'll bet it has well over 300,000 miles on it.
For being a four-speed with high gearing/ratios, it towed like a banshee.
IIRC my dad had to replace one clutch and some injectors on it. That's it.

Just a quick question for you Ford guys that have strayed. In other words guys that are driving Chevy or Dodge diesels who used to have powerstrokes. Will this new truck persuade you back to the blueoval.

I don't feel I strayed anywhere. I feel I bought a better truck. I'm not going to have anymore salesman lies thrown my way.
After a reflash on the 05 that did nothing more than cut the power I called Diesel Innovations about a program a few days later and found out the 05 turbo was different. As RPM's went up HP went down. So lets cut the power and hope the engine holds together until the warranty period expires.
More than anything the seats in my 05 XLT where the worst most uncomfortable seats I have ever had. So no, I won't be coming back anytime soon.
Someday I may buy another Ford.
Just not anytime soon.

My '03 XLT has plush, deep fabric cloth seats. I noticed that the "cloth" seats were changed immediately after this to some type of woven nylon. Ugly and uncomfortable.
Bad move, Ford.

For all of the talk about GM's interior, I felt the most comfortable in my Ford.
I really hate the GM's lower seats.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yea, but your Ford was a 03. My 03 KR seats where the very best, period. But go sit in a 05 with those nylon type seats. They are very thin, hard and low also.
Compared to my 06 Chevy, well the Chevy seats aren't the best but there sure better than the nylon imitation seats Ford is or was using in 05.
My 02 has 55,643.8 Miles on it. Lariat, and although I like the looks of the new truck, I will wait unitl 08 before I bite the bullet, if I bite it then. But there aint enough money on this planet to make me by a dodge or GM. I would get a medium duty truck before I would buy one of them. As reported here numerious times, the frame is not as strong, the components are not as tough, the GVWR, is not as high, the list goes on and on. Why would I pay almost the same money, and get like half a truck, I ask you why. I wont.

I loved my 05' powerstroke ---- except for the 6.0 motor. The truck was payed for and had 30,000 miles when I traded it in on another brand. I was sick and tired of it breaking down on me. The first repair was at 600 miles, then every few hundred miles after that. Egr valve, wiring harness, turbo, rear seal (twice), high pressure oil pump, oil cooler etc... The truck I have now has over 5000 miles on it and has never been back to the dealer since leaving it. It also tows much better than my Ford did.
I know die hard Ford people will dispute what I say but I have the paperwork for all the days my truck spent in the shop. I also have motel receipts and expenses that were paid when it broke down on me 700 miles from home (high pressure oil pump).
I am done with Ford.

You got a bit o learning to do about the other brand of trucks, I'll be happy to show up in my sons 97 Dodge CUmmins 5 Speed and show you what 132K of use is like.
This truck will outpull any furd I have, and candidly - the truck overall is in great shape.
Very little maintenance, and great mileage to boot.
So, before you make yourself look more like the south end of a north bound donkey -- realize other brands do handle the work too.
