08 Ford Remote start
finally got mine installed last Friday but didn't have both keys with me so had to program it at home (long story).

One thing I was looking forward to was using the door keypad and not having the alarm go off - and sure enough the alarm goes off when I unlock with the key pad.

Anyone got this to work?

I did not install mine so I can not help you with that part of your problem. But , I can tell you that mine works fine with the keypad.

Remote start
I had the same problem took it to the dealer 5 times after the installer told me it could not be done I called Ford tech support and said it could be done.
If I rember correct you have to find the power unlock wire from the door lock motor and send that signal to the alarm to shut it off

mine also works great with the keypad. it can be done.

can you order a truck w/the remote start or does it have to be put on at dealer? What is the cost?

Mine also works fine with keypad. It was dealer installed. I love it on these cold mornings.

This is an option from Ford as an aftermarket item? Picked up an 08' last night and already miss the remote start we had on the 05'.

On harness A pin 9 Brown on Remote Start Module connect to Driver Door Unlock Motor Violet/Gray + This will tell the system to unarm when the driver door is unlocked with the keypad.

Also on harness A pin 11 White/Blue on Remote Start Module connect to Lock Motor Gray/Brown + this will arm the system went the last two buttons on the keypad are depressed.

That sounds like a deal. Kind of interesting how the gm ltz's come standard w/remote start and you can't even order a ford w/one from the factory! Seems to me they would figure out people who are spending 50k on a truck are about the comfort features such as a remote starter!
