Make sure that when you install your instake system you reset the "FILTERMINDER" by pushing the button on the sensor as it WILL throw codes if you didnt, Make sure that you put in your stock intake if you take your truck to the dealership as it can void your warranty. Key word CAN.

Its on the passenger side its clear with a blue push button. It works via a vacuum effect so make sure when you change your filter you push the button to reset it.

Are you saying that those who install aftermarket intakes AND reset the filter minder will not get these codes?

I've read MANY posts here about different intakes throwing the exact same codes. Some how I think that the filter minder isn't going to make the problem go away.

My educated guess is that it's a problem with the intake and the tight parameters of the truck's on-board computer. Translation: there's squat you can do about it without going back to stock.

I was told by a Ford Mechanic to do it I have not had any codes thrown with my truck, A stock filter will throw codes also if it all of a sudden plugs or lets in too much air too fast, ( which is what it would think its doing) after you install a high flow intake. It may not be 100% right but it has seemed to work for me and a few others I know??? Just trying to help

If you have a way to clear your own codes, I would go with the option of resetting the Filter Minder and driving on... I couldn't locate the codes that you mentioned in the documentation that I have for Ford Diagnostic Trouble Codes...

If you still have your DPF youll want it to kick on to regen, if not you will plug your dpf and lose even more fuel economy.

I threw my AFE in the trash. Be aware that you must clean it ALL THE TIME. I'm in a dusty environment and I tap out my stock filter DAILY. Even then, you will want to clean your MAP sensor at the same time you clean your filter. The filter stops the big chunks but not the finer particles. You AFE owners will know what I'm saying when you take a clean paper towel and wipe down the inside of the intake tube.

For those thinking about upping HP on a heavy hauler or work truck, I feel this $240 product is a bad match for a $7k warrantied motor. Bummer.

Here's the deal on AFE. The AFE intake air flow is much different than the engineered stock intake. This effects the readings on the map sensor that will allow the egr's to get hotter, allowing the cat to exceed the operating temp range and that will cause the motor to stop running until the temps drop to allow the breaker to reset. Been there.

TO be honest, you might as well get used to it. I run the S&B Intake and have not had a single issue in nearly 30K miles.

When I bought my AFE, I called AFE after getting the 2002 codes. They sent me a different size pipe. There are two sizes. According to AFE Ford changed the intake pipe size sometime in the spring of last year. The original system I bought had a loose pipe fit. The new pipe corrected the size problem but I never reinstalled the system. So I don't know for sure if it corrected it or not. According to AFE that corrects the problem. Was your intake pipe a loose or tight fit?
