Any news on MBRP

Has anybody heard if MBRP is getting their DPF-back exhaust ready for sale? It will be interesting to see if they use the fancy tips or go with a standard chrome one. I saw the info about the exhaust on their website but haven't seen any more news about it yet.

Re: Any news on MBRP

I just that MBRP's website now has a 4" DPF-back system. There's some install pictures but no sound clips yet, also there are no prices yet. At least they are coming!

Re: Any news on MBRP

I too am curious about this. I want to know how much they are going to charge for 4 feet of exhaust. I would also like to see some real life dyno numbers. I just can't see it making a big difference. Guess we just have to wait and see.

(Oh, and it annoys me that their website states that they are working on and exhaust for the new "Twin Turbo" 6.4L. And these are car guys?)

Re: Any news on MBRP

Folks - the VAST majority of pressure drop [ie backpressure] is accounted for at the DPF outlet. A 'DPF-back' system of ANY pipe size is simply not going to lower total system backpressure by any significant amount.

The DPF adds sound attenuation so any secondary muffler/resonator would not need to be as restrictive as before.

I would be highly skeptical of hp gains due to DPF-back pipes of any design. The math just does not add up.

FYI the backpressure changes as the DPF traps soot - immediately after a regen the pressure drop is lowest; immediately before a regen the pressure drop is highest. System uses pressure sensors to trigger regen. If you are a clever marketer you could dyno the factory system at max soot load and then dyno your aftermarket system with a clean DPF after regen. There will be a BIG difference in backpressure / hp but none of it would be due to the new pipes.

Buyer Beware.

Re: Any news on MBRP

I think the biggest gain by adding an aftermarket exhaust would be cooler temps out the pipe, I am planning on putting duals out the back corners, if somone makes them, just to reduce the chance that my kid gets burnt walking past the pipe durring a regn.

Does the regen happen when it's idling? I would think it happens when traveling down the highway.

Re: Any news on MBRP

Why isn't there a muffler delete for the 6.4 but there is one for the 6.7? If I'm buying a MBRP system, I'm definatly getting the muffler delete so I can possibly hear the turbo.

Re: Any news on MBRP

I don't know. The picture they give kinda looks like there is no muffler, they just put a pipe from the DPF-back and call it good.
