Auxiliary Switches

I have an 08 and i did not order the switch kit, big mistake. Does anyone know the part number or the correct name of this kit ? Does it come with a harness ? I have a coin holder where i believe the switch kit goes, is this correct ? Looking to add lights and some extras, and my friends truck came with these switches i was told these can be used for what i want to do. This way i dont have to tear up the dash. Thanks

I was in the same boat and had to add the swithces. I bought mine from eBay My World - hellerfordparts on ebay. Best price I had found and everything was included. Installing was pretty easy and sure makes for hooking up extras alot easier. I have one switch to the rearview camera to toggle it on seperate of the reverse and one hooked to lights inside the box under the tonneau cover.

Upfitter switches

ND,

what wire did you tap for the backup camera? I am assuming the OEM camera. Did you need to add any diodes so other items did not power up..

I had to use a relay and tap into the factory wire in the passenger pillar area. I got all the information and wiring diagram from this thread Backup Camera Idea in particular post #25 and went pretty easy I use it quite a bit works better for hooking up to a trailer when you are pulling ahead and backing up.

Backup Camera

Thanks,

I want to use it for the winter for plowing with the cap on the truck. It will make it a lot easier backing up out of dead end streets.

Scott

Good idea didn't think of that. I've used it to make sure my tiedowns were still tight on the trailer.

I orded the switches from the same dealer you did should be in this week. Thanks for all your help !!! Do you have any of your switches connected to raise the idle, like the auxillary idle controller on the 7.3 ? If so how is that wiring done ?

Take care
Bud

Havent yet but thinking I will this fall although the 6.4L had the auto idle kick up at low temps. The seller included directions on how to do it though. If you have any problems with the directions email me parts of the directions are still for the 6.0L. The harness plugs in on the drivers side up behind the accelerator peddle are the relay box parts mounts near the parkbrake. It took me a couple trys to get the right wire routing and getting to that plugin was a tight squeze for my fat hand.

ND got switches and put them in the only problem i had was gettind the fuse box screwed in, ended up usng nuts and bolts. Now im looking to hook up the high idle to no 4 but have no luck finding instructions on how to do it. If you see anything let me know. I did find instructions for the 05 06 07 fast idle hookup, no sure if the same applys to my 08. Anyway thanks so much for your help. Take care.

Jason Thanks it was easy as pie. Took the green w/ yellow tracer from the bundle of blunt cut wires above the E brake and connected it to the brown of my newly installed upfitter switches, ( aux # 4 ) and it works. Thanks fo all your help !!

One note on the idle control to upfitter switch - There are two different idle controls available, SEIC and BCP, and which is appropriate depends on what you want to accomplish.

SEIC is Stationary Elevated Idle Control and allows you to command the idle RPM to a value that you set (via a resistor) and is for use with a PTO setup.

BCP is Battery Charge Protect, this mode raises the idle to a bad of 900RPM, but then the ECM monitors battery voltage and will raise the idle further if needed to maintain charge level. They use this mode on emergency vehicles with heavy electrical loads.

I have my aux4 wired for BCP.

Yeah mine had the screws to attach the box but it took me awhile to find them. Funny you didn't get that page with how to hook up the high idle they included it with my stuff. If you need anything else such as which the pass thru wires are I can also scan and post the page I have with that info.
