When you replace that exhaust please let us know if that hissing sounds goes away. I tow a 11,000 trailer and when i'm towing up hill with my rear window open it sounds like a jet engine. I gotta believe it's taking extra horsepower just to push that exhaust through all the fins and baffeling.......

Wait. You're complaining about the jet engine sound? The classic sound of your turbos spooling up? To each his own, I suppose. :-D

timid1....that's the regen at work...you can get excellent mileage...if you choose to only check between regens. My mixed city and highway driving always winds up at 13.xx if I wait long enough!!

I installed a 5 inch Magnaflow exhaust with the 6 inch tip in October. Gets lots of great compliments and the tailpipe temp is definitely lower but absolutely no fuel mile improvements at all. As in previous posts the DPF is killing the mileage.

Approximitantly 24% increase in flow area of a 4" exhaust over a 3.5" I could imagine a huge decrease in pressure loss with that increase in diameter. Williams Hazens Equation of Pressure Drop According to the Hazen-Williams formula I calculated a 50% decrease in pressure loss in psi/ft of of 4" over 3.5" pipe.

I just installed the Banks Monster Exhaust today... I must say that I was disappointed. I've installed these on an '04 and an '06 also and this one just didn't fit as good. I had to cut 2.25" off of one of the pipes to get it to even fit in there at all. It said for a crew cab long bed that no cutting was necessary. It still is very close to the truck and overall just doesn't look as good previous ones in my opinion. Luckily I got the old one off without cutting it. Oh well...
