I agree that a "ram air" is not really neccessary. IMHO, more air without more fuel can have a negative effect on power.

BUT, I'm not sure I agree with your statement.

Even with the engineering expertise that Banks has, no one knows Ford trucks better than Ford. Anyone that buys into these aftermarket parts should understand that they're buying into something that their truck simply wasn't designed to do, and I'm not saying this because of warranty issues. I'm just simply stating the fact: Ford didn't put ram air in our trucks for a reason. Whatever it is, Ford didn't design it in. Anyway, I'm not a Ford engineer, just a regular old engineer by trade.

Unfortunately it isnt just that simple...remember, the bottom line at Ford is profit. The designers do their job and the bean counters do theirs. Ford didnt put a winch on these trucks because most folks dont need em, but if your one of the guys that goes out and uses these trucks in the mountains logging or running power lines you definately need that winch...

So yea, Ford knows their trucks, but your statement makes it seem like they cant be improved upon, which I think we all know isnt true.

Did you read the previous posts, especially the OP? If so, how could you expect "anyone have ANY experience with installation or results with the Banks system?" no ones' even got one yet.

I don't think you will to much gain with it, It's just a K&N and a new filter box. The only benefit from this CAI will be with Banks tuner. IMO you will not see any gain from it. The Banks Ram is made not to set codes. The restriction in the factory intake is not replaced by Banks. It maybe be a higher flowing Filter, but you can only suck so much air threw the pipe from the turbo to the filter box. The ford factory intake and filter is best IMO if you are keeping the DPF, if you do a DPF delete, I'd get the S&B CAI.

And if "one person" had installed one, would you rely on "one person's" opinion? Is that how an AuburnGrad makes a decision?
Thanks for the "good" advice. And just to be clear, when I placed my order with Banks, they told me the Ram Air systems were already almost in back order they had sold so many! So it would seem that somewhere, SOMEONE must have one?? As for is that how an Auburn Grad makes a decision, then I would have to say that asking for other peoples real world experience certainly makes sense to me, so yeah, that's how we make decisions. I also based my decision on the Banks Engineering reputation. Besides, I kind of thought the whole point of the forums was to garner the opinions and experience of our brother truck owners? Maybe I was mistaken, and this forum is so we can make fun and belittle each other??

You are correct, that is what this and other forums are for. The 1st 2 threads I read had posts from Firstlight slamming people for asking questions. I am not sure if this forum has the ignore feature, but if it does put him on the ignore so you don't have to read his worthless posts.
But back to the question, I would like to hear from some people with the Banks as well.

OK, so where is the answer to the question?

Answer is that there is no answer because no one has one, in case no one has figgered that out yet.

And if one person has one and replies, would that person's opinion be representative of the value of this new product? Would you buy one because the first user said it was the greatest thing since sliced bread? I sure as heck wouldn't.

There's just a lot of un-thoughtout questions here, and that was the point of my above post on this thread.

Banks has sold tons of these so far, and I probably doubt that every one who has bought one is a member of this forum, and the ones who are probably have jumped ship due to the idoits on here who bash each other. SO please tell me, when a new product comes out what exactly are these super smart people who bash everyone on these forums recommend the consumer to do, ask a simple question on a forum and see how the product simply works in there own opinon or rely on the manufactor???? SO again who has it and what do you think???? or if you dont dont have ii dont waste everyones time bashing on this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!! doesnt get any easier than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear lots of good feeback on the Banks intake. All a matter of preference.

I am glad to hear someone say there has been good feedback, as I have already purchased the system and am just waiting on it to come in. I will post my results when I have them. I am eternally hopeful of positive results for my less than stellar gas mileage to this point!
