I just got off the phone with a Banks rep (name withheld because he was cool and I'm not interested in getting him nailed if he said something wrong) and he told me that the Ottomind basically takes the first 4 levels, of 6, from the Sixgun and spreads them out into 6 settings. Why? Because the first 4 settings on the Sixgun are safe when towing a heavy load. They do not recommend towing in the fifth and sixth settings. To ensure that you don't do this they have the Ottomind which simply eliminates the last 2 settings. So, as long as you are alert to your driving circumstances and your settings you should be better off with the Sixgun. So it seems that you have no need to worry that you bought the wrong one.
BTW - Have you used it yet, and if so, what can you report?
Thanks.
Thank You AIRDOG,
That is the answer that I was looking for. Maybe you should see about getting a job over there. I don't feel bad about my purchase now. Just felt like maybe I got one pulled over on me....not being able to atleast make that choice.
And no..no report yet. I havent got it yet. When I do trust me everyone will know... GOOD or BAD.. Right now I'm getting ave. 9.7mpg over about 20 tanks. I'm very interested to see what happens
We all are. I am anxiously awaiting some feedback. I pre-ordered, then cancelled, and am waiting to see if I need to reorder or not. Thanks in advance to any and all feedback.

I myself am holding off for CARB approval. No CARB decal, no $$$. By the time CARB approval is granted, all the kinks and bugs will be worked out and the product will have been thoroughly checked out by the public.
When will the Ottomind version be available?
Also - I tried out a Bullydog programmer for my 2500 GMC and it did virtually nothing at all. They allowed me to send it back for a full refund. What is Banks policy on returning a programmer?
Thanks again for the responses. I couldn't do your job without snapping peoples heads off every now and then. That's why I paint cars for a living.
The Ottomind should be out in the next 2-3 months depending on how the testing goes. It's going to be using the same hardware as the six gun.
And the instructions should be on our website tomorrow

Jeff, what's up with this? It's Tuesday night and I'd really like to see these please!

Intake, Tuning and Exhaust... Back to Banks! Suspension/Drivetrain by WC Motorsports
Just got a UPS ship notification...Saying that it will be here on Monday. I live in Florida so its taking longer for mine to get here. Some of the other guys may get it first. I'll let everyone know as soon as possible.
Just got an email from UPS also saying it would be here Monday (North Dakota), I see Banks has finally got the owners manual on their website under the tech section.
Bankspower, I read the Section 4 (Automatic Transmission Learning) on the Six-Gun Owner’s Manual. Due to the operational characteristics of the TorqShift transmission, the Six-Gun can’t go up from lower levels without performs part of the following procedure per level increase.
1. Start the truck and allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
2. Set the Banks Power PDA or Six-Gun switch to power level 2.
3. Accelerate with the pedal to the floor, from a standing start to 60 mph. Repeat three (3) times.
4. Cruise at 30 mph, then press the accelerator to the floor to cause the transmission to downshift. Continue accelerating to 60 mph.
5. Repeat steps (2) and (3) for the next power setting.
6. Continue to increase the power setting and drive cycle until the desired power setting is achieved
That is not exactly an On-The-Fly change of power levels. I will have to think it twice before to increase the power level when needed. What if somebody accidentally turns the knob? The instructions states that “Failure to follow the sequence can result in damage to the transmission”. Could you please comment on this subject?

You perform this once after installing the Banks tuner. Once you perform this once in each setting, it's learned and no longer needs to be performed. At which time switching is on-the-fly.

Smotrs
The procedure must be repeated each time you change to a higher power level, in Section 4 is clearly stated, “The transmission learning procedure will need to be repeated when switching back to the higher power settings once the transmission adapts to the lower power settings.”
The tuner is being widely marketed as that the power levels can be changed on-the-fly. Ok, no download but in case that I have being using the truck on level 1 and wants to go to level 6. Then, I have to repeat the procedure (Accelerate with the pedal to the floor, from a standing start to 60 mph. Repeat three times) 5 times before using the truck at level 6. I already ordered it; I would wish to don’t be correct.
