You may want be cautious about buying new items from Banks. I've always liked their products but something has changed there recently. I have tried to get a simple intercooler question answered for months. I tried calling and was told I needed to e-mail my question to the tech department. I sent a couple of emails and never got a reply. I sent a PM to the member calling himself Bankspower and didn't get an answer. And about a week ago when I noticed he was involved in this thread I sent him another PM and asked him who I could ask to get the answer. He didn't reply to that one either. In the past they have always eagerly answered questions.

Any MPG increases with this programmer? I understand, in theory, power increases can give more mpg if your easy on it, but I was curious if you had any real numbers.
The typical increase we saw was 3-5mpg (both empty and towing) over our 108mile test loop. This was holding 65mph.
3 -5 mpg increase with just a tuner? Is that hand calculated or by the display. From what everyone says, the display gets even more inaccurate when you hook something up to the truck.
My mpg display is deadly accurate with or without my 10K toyhauler. The verdict on Banks new tuner is still out for me. I'd like to see some hard data still. Especially when they test all the tuners.
The Six Gun for the Ford 6.4L was released for general sale today Post your questions
Does this indicate that if I were to order one directly that it would ship immediately or is this a Pre-Order?
I spoke with a Banks Dealer today and informed him of what I have read on the forum. He contacted Banks and was told they are not yet ready for sale. He was also told they are trying to see if there is still enough interest in them to go into full production.

I heard rumors a while back that this banks programmer was "approved" by ford and wouldn't void the warranty. Any truth to this rumor?
It's nothing I know about here. While the tuner is set up with saftey limits that are under the ford spec (egt, coolant temp, tran temp ect.) as far as I know Ford hasn't officially "approved" anything. Heck, I'm still running across customers who are telling me the dealer is trying to void warrantys just because they polished the factory tail pipe tip.

They were released for general sale and several sets have already been sent out. Right now it's only available from Banks directly.
I placed an order over 1 week ago because I was on the list (for 3 months) of customers wanting the tuner. I was told it would ship within a week, I didn't recieve any updates so I called and was told they were "backordered" and wouldn't have any more info until the 20th. When I pressed the customer service person they finally told me that nothing would ship until the end of the month at the earliest and that even that wasn't quaranteed. I canceled my order and placed an order for the spartan this morning.
They were very rude and acted like I was an idiot just because I wanted a firm ship date!
I was also told that they were only quoting a 10% mileage increase, which on a truck that gets 10mpg is only a 1mpg increase. Not enough for the money.
I am undecided about which programmer to go with. I like what I see with the the Spartan and SCT, but I live in CA and need the emissions approval. Banks are the only products that have any approval so far, and they are attempting to have the new Six Gun approved.
I am very frustrated with waiting for the actual release of the new Six Gun. They are supposedly released for sale, but "Banks Dealers" don't have any and anybody I know that has called to order them have not received them. I have also not seen any posts about any customers that have one. For a product that was released for general sale on 3-2-09 I can not believe we have not seen any feedback.
I wish Banks Power could be honest with there customers! I you have them and are really selling them, great, but if you only have a few or are not really selling them don't say anything at all.
Honesty is the best policy for me.
Please "Banks Power", for a company that claims to not blow smoke, don't blow smoke up our #@$#@.

They have not received CARB Approval. CARB approval is pending; it's a LONG process and there's absolutely no guarantee that they'll get it. They're either approved or they're not, and in this case they're not. What this means is if you just so happen to be going for inspection in 2010 and approval is still pending (this IS possible especially given the current situation of the state), you will fail the visual inspection portion of the emissions.

I do understand that the CARB approval is pending. At least they are trying to to be emissions legal. Banks Power has several products for 6.0, and 7.3 powerstrokes that have CARB approval and include the EO numbers needed to be legal to pass CA emissions testing.
While my faith in Banks Power is slowly running out, I do believe they will follow through with the CARB approval.
Are any of the other performance manufactures attempting to have there products certified by CARB?

why would anyone even bother with this junk anyway? just get spartan or innovative tunes and be done with it
