Sorry I did not get back to you. Yes I did and everything went as it should. Just to be sure, I used the directions right from the website, word for word. So did you put the update on a micro sd card? Then take it and the IQ out to the truck, plug in then before you turn on the iq insert the card.
Ignition needs to be for it to update the tuner.

I was wondering how far people are going between regens with the new version on the IQ. I have an 08 with 12,000 miles, and since I put the latest version on I am only going about 60 miles between regens. I have the IQ on level 2 right now.
try a reflash again. Now that you mention it, mine are a little sooner too, but hard to say as I have been pulling my 5th wheel quite a bit. I will monitor mine.

I have been looking at this for a little bit now. I have a 2009 F-450 Crew C/C with an enclosed utility body on it. I am looking for better mileage only, not really caring about power at this time. What is the best option for me? Tuner/Intake only? Is it worth doing the Big Hoss bundle? Does the Big Hoss bundle delete the DPF?
I installed the Six Gun with IQ on my F-450 back in February in Tuscon. I pulled a 16K fifth wheel around AZ, into TX, around TX and back to Iowa. At the suggestion of a Banks engineer, I run on level 5. I took an average of three tanks before and then after installation. My milage increased from an average of 6.1 to 8.2. These were three day trips where we did not unhitch at nite. In other words, pure pulling milage and no sight seeing milage. I have the 4:88 rear end. Well, the truck does.

Today I have enough info to post the difference for daily driver type use (no pulling).
I did the same - an average of 3 tanks both before and after installation.
Before Banks I got an average of 8.96 mpg (OK - 9). After installation I get 10.64 mpg.
Needless to say, I am quite pleased with Banks.

These are very interesting numbers. This is making me lean towards the banks set up. I had the six gun in my 6.0 but decided to remove it because of the fear of head gaskets, egr etc.. But the increased power and better mpg numbers seem promising. I just want something that god for bid I have to take the truck into the dealer I can quickly and easily remove, and from what I'm reading it seems like banks is the way to go. I'm also interested in the speed brake.

UPDATE:First of all , whose idea was it to cover up our blog with this ad from edmunds? Any way .....moving right along......got my sixgun diesel tuner monday evening . On tuesday.....looking under the hood I DISCOVERED HOW SIMPLE THE INSTALL IS. I took several hours .....why you might ask.....to discover the absolute most stealthy location to put the tuner . It was worth the trouble . All I will say is it get's good air flow ,and is away from any heat sources and firmly attached .I checked every electronic function on my truck before installing .After installing ........everything was still working . When I first started the truck after installing I got a message......" DRIVE TO CLEAN FILTER ".....so I got on the hwy and kept the truck @ 2000 rpm until the regen cycle was complete. Then I started the procedure to reprogram the transmission as per the book of instructions .Really easy.....I had the sixgun diesel tuner with speedloader on my 6.0 .....Here is what I have observed . Significant reduction of turbo lag from standing start .....say at a stop light .But it has not been eliminated . Noticeable increase in power at each power level (GOOD JOB BANKS ENGINEERING). Before installing I got 10 to 11 mpg in the city and around 12mpg on hwy . So far .......no change on mpg in city driving on the idiot meter , on the hwy however I am seeing around 14.5 mpg ....again on the lieometer . Haven't taken a long trip yet , and have not towed a load yet . I did forget to mention....install was done on a 2008 F-450 /DANA 110 UNDER THE REAR W/4:30 GEARS ....AND IT'S A 4X4 . Well that's all for now . I do have one question , " Are you going to add a speed loader to the sixgun diesel tuner? W5DVC
W5DVC,
I'm getting ready to install my new Six-Gun tuner and I was wondering if you could clue me in to the "stealth" location you chose for your tuner? Also, is the tuner and iQ still running good for you? Lastly, did you stay with the factory mount for the iQor did you go with something more practical? I'm thinking about a gooseneck mount for both a remote head for my dual-band Alinco and perhaps the same thing for the Banks iQ. Your comments would be appreciated and I'm grateful to you and the others on this forum that went through such a steep learning curve so that the rest of us could avoid some of the initial problems.
I saw the update on the Banks software download page but there's no information on what the update will do for the system. Can we get automatic updates from Banks Engineering notifying us of the available update(s)? Is there any way to get Banks Engineering to post some sort of explanation about what each update is supposed to address? I'd at least like to be able to make an informed decision on whether or not I want to install the download. Also (yeah it's a nitpick), Banks should update the Ford Truck header to include the 2010 model year. So far it only shows 08-09 model years but the Six Gun Tuner (Part # 63906) they sent for my 2010 F350 is the same as the one listed on the update.
I installed the Six Gun bundle a couple of weekends ago and I'm still testing the different levels to try to see which one suits my truck and driving style the best.
I too have been researching for a clean safe tuner for my 2008 F450 4x4 CC/DRW with 4:88's and have considered the the Bank Six Gun with IQ.
I looks like you all have it and some from the time it was released. My question is:
Do you like it for the intended purpose you bought it?
Would you purchase it again?
What don't you like about it.
My truck gets used for pulling 98% of the time, pulling 15-18K mostly on the freeway with grades 5-6%.
For those of you who want to chime in an say remove the DPF and go with SCT, Edge, Maxi or Sparten I'm not interested! Yes I would love more fuel mileage but with this gear ratio and emissions equipment it's not going to happen.
My truck just turned over 20k miles and I would like to keep my warranty as long as I can.
I spoke with Alex yesterday at Banks and he came right out and said " Don't expect any mileage gains" but you will have more power.
So my question is should I buy it? And to the BanksPower member are you still offering a discount to forum members?
