Banks

Yawn..

If anyone here thinks that any vendor will sing the praises of another one, you are screwed in the head. Also, show me ANY vendor that is not financially driven, I will show you one that is not in business very long.

I know that Banks has been working WITH Ford to try to get a tuner that will not void the warranty; it is certainly possible but IMHO not probable. Look at some of the other vendors teamed with Ford to hop up Fords with no problem with factory warranty.

I am waiting on Banks as I want a system that leaves the Factory programming pristine (no tell tale code changes) to show up if I have to return to the dealer. Sure, I can buy a tuner right now, but later if the "tick" becomes a rattle, the $1400 bucks I spent will be nothing compared to the overhaul I have to buy.

I have bought Banks in the past, they were NOT the most powerful, but I NEVER had a single problem with their equipment (they even sent me a FREE tuner when they changed design to accommodate the Palm). I have found Banks to be a great company.

My opinion only, your mileage may vary.

I thought that Banks already has a tuner for the 6.4 but when I go to their website, they only have exhaust and air intakes. Did they take it off the market? I'm gonna have to dig through my old Diesel Power magazines, I could have sworn I saw an ad.

Well at least they make an effort to get it right before selling it to you and me . Get it right FIRST , then sell it . Maybe it's just me but it sounds like a responsible strategy for keeping customers to me .

I look at it as wanting to stay in business. Banks is a California based company, and as such, they can't just make a product that has an effect on emissions. There are laws that limit what they can sell and in what fashion. Banks is on the California Air Resource Board (CARB) radar. If they do anything that the CARB doesn't like, they can get shut down real quick. CARB approval (Executive Order) crap is a long process, and I'm not even sure they can SELL a tuner like this without CARB approval.

They're covering the butts. FYI, competitors like SCT aren't based in California. They're not supposed to sell their tuners to people in California, but they probably do anyway, and probably because there isn't any way they can be punished for it.

We have a few members that have not read the rules.
There are a many companies providing upgrade items for diesels. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Discussions of these items is allowed in the appropriate forum however problems with a specific vendor or their product must be discussed privately with that vendor.

Please follow the rules or this thread will be locked.
